Randy MacKenzie

Brent Brewin

Riley Merrill

2 Newest Directors:

Dennis Lastuka

along with Amanda High as Secretary

and Cheryl Domolewski as Treasurer.

Your SAAC board works very hard all year long to promote the Angus industry, and keep the SAAC club as the most active Angus club in Alberta.  The board is also a very strong advocate for the youth of the industry.

This year's golf tournament will be held at the Cottonwood Coulee Golf Course in Medicine Hat on Friday July 24th, so be sure to mark your calendar.  Plans are in the works for another field day, stay tune for further details.

Click here for your 2015 membership form.  Your $20 membership fee helps the club to perform and carry out these activities to the greatest extent.  Please fill out and send in your payment at your earliest convenience.

Also as a reminder for ALL members to email in their information that they would like to advertise to the SAAC email list and we will pass on the information.  A very cheap way to get out to over 200 addresses of those with an interest in the industry.

Good luck to everyone with their 2015 calf crop, and keep an eye on your emails for your SAAC happenings!

Canadian Cow-Calf Smartphone App
Interested in using a mobile app for your cow-calf records?

The Canadian Hereford, Simmental and Angus Associations have jointly been awarded funding from the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA) to explore the development of a mobile smartphone application ("app") for Canadian cow-calf producers with integration into Canadian breed association performance data. Integrated Traceability Solutions Global ("ITS Global") of Okotoks, AB has been contracted to research and summarize the functionalities Canadian cattle breeders desire in a mobile app.

An on-line survey of cow-calf producers across Canada, conducted in February and March of this year, was the first step in this process. The next step is to convene focus groups of producers and breed association staff to review and prioritize functional specifications and linkages for a mobile app, suggested in the survey.

Input from producers is very important, and we would like to invite you and your association's membership to attend one of the following webinar consultations to provide your valuable feedback on a Canadian cow-calf app:
  • Monday, May 4 at 10:00 AM MST
  • Tuesday, May 5 at 6:00 PM MST
  • Thursday, May 7 at 10:00 AM MST

If you're interested in using a mobile app for your cattle records and would like to have your say in the functionalities of a Canadian cow-calf app, we hope you can join us.

Please RSVP to appinfo@itslivestock.com  by April 24th, stating your preferred date.
