The Southern Alberta Angus Club AGM has been rescheduled for Monday December 16th at the lethbridge Lodge. The rescheduling was due to the previous date being the same day as the CAA grand opening of Angus Central.
Meeting to start at 5:30PM ( if you have anything to add to the agenda please call Doug at 635-1840)

Come hear the review of the SAAC activities for the past year, and the upcoming thoughts and visions for the future. We appreciate all comments and would like to hear of any ideas you may have.

2013 AAA Commercial Breeder of the Year
|
Alberta Angus Association names Sara Lake Ranch, Phil and Bev Hunt along with Geoff and Diane Hunt of Flatbush Alberta the 2013 Commercial Breeders of the Year during the show at Farmfair International!
The Hunts have been in the Ranching Business for 39 years. They calved 360 Red Angus cross females in 2012 and bred 400 females to calve in 2013. Their usual practices have been to use a 2/3 Red Angus 1/3 Simmental Bull Battery. They back round their steer calves until March and then sell them off of the farm. Once they have sorted out their own replacements most of the balance of their heifer calves are sold for breeding stock. Over the years the Hunts have purchased Red Angus Bulls from: That'll Do Red Angus Ranch, Glesbar Cattle Co., U2 Ranch, Dwajo Angus, Lonestone Farms, Ole Farms, Murray Keirik, to name a few. Hunts pasture all of their own cattle and produce their own feed on 25 quarter sections of Deeded, Leased and Rented land.
