This time of year, I'm making my list and checking it twice to find handpicked events and finds for the upcoming holiday season. From seasonal markets to performances, my snapshots and holiday gift guide will provide both savvy New Yorkers and visitors a quick glimpse of what to do and how to make the most of this festive time in NYC.
This week's Special Feature focuses on the best ice skating rinks and options for a Hot Chocolate. Of course, Rockefeller Center is iconic, but there are also new rinks in the city to glide on the ice.

Lycée Français de New York (505 East 75th Street) A bazaar-themed event which includes over 40 vendor booths with 20% of all vendor proceeds going to the school. This festival offers a great chance for attendees to get a head start on holiday shopping and enjoy cultural activities. Cocktail Soiree on the evening of the 14th and Family Day on the 15th.

Renowned designers decorate the rooms of this mansion with decor that will complement everyone's tastes. Leonard Lauder is the Honorary Chair... Holiday House is all about the celebration of life; each designer selects a holiday or a special moment in life as the inspiration for their design.

Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street) Blythe Danner returns to Broadway in Manhattan Theatre Club's production. A piercing look at a family of performers each coming to terms with the roles they play in each other's lives.
The show brought everyone to a standing ovation. The lead actor, a recent graduate of Julliard, is brilliant. The story unfolds with a mathematical precocious adolescent with behavioral problems uncovering truths and hidden secrets.
