With the Tribeca Film Festival starting next week at locations across lower Manhattan, I've decided to focus on one of my favorite pastimes, films!
Tickets go on sale for the General Public on April 14th and for downtown residents on the 13th, so make your picks and buy your tickets before your must-sees sell out.

Gilded Lace Pop-Up Shop at Henri Bendel
Whenever I think of unique jewelry, I think Gilded Lace! Head to Henri Bendel to check out the new collection and meet the designer. Cultural Pursuits...
Through April 13 The AIPAD Photography Show Over 80 works at the Park Avenue Armory (643 Park Avenue) by leading photography art galleries, showcasing a wide range of museum quality works including contemporary, modern and 19th century photographers. Through April 19 Elegance in an Age of Crisis: Fashions of the 1930s The Museum at FIT (7th Avenue at 27th Street) features an exquisite collection from the decade that emerged from the Jazz Age and ended with the onset of World War II... a period when modern clothing was introduced to the fashion world.
Visit the Arcadia Contemporary Gallery in SoHo (51 Greene Street). Arcadia means 'a real or imaginary place offering peace and simplicity.' All of the works in this exhibit show real life with a twist that will make you think.
Through April 23 Fashion and Folk Art
Thirteen emerging designers have created original ensembles inspired by artwork at the American Folk Art Museum (2 Lincoln Square).
Through April 24 Earth and Beyond
The exhibition at the Leonard Tourné Gallery (46 East 65th Street) features works by Ron Burkhardt, Friedberger and Strong-Cuevas. Besides the many accolades Burkhardt has received, he's also been bestowed honors by the United Nations.

The Little Prince: A New York Story
At the Morgan Library & Museum (225 Madison Avenue); this is a story that I know is familiar to so many of us. Twenty-five manuscript pages on hand to view, along with personal letters and photographs from Saint-Exupéry's collection.
Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of DinosaursRare fossils, life-size models, and hands-on interactives bring these ancient animals to life at the American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West at 79th Street).
Mid-Century Postwar Italian Photography
On view at the Keith de Lellis Gallery (1045 Madison Avenue), the shots will take you back and make you think. Through May 17th.
Moving Murals: City Lore's Grand Inaugural Exhibition 
On display at the City Lore Gallery (56 East 1st Street), Chalfant and Cooper's graffiti archives photography during the "Golden Age of Graffiti" in the 70s and 80s. Moving Murals presents images in a wall-to-wall mosaic of 850 trains, creating an all-city graffiti environment. Through July 10th.
Re: Collection
This month celebrates the 5th anniversary of the Museum of Art & Design (2 Columbus Circle) and this exhibit is a tribute to that anniversary. Through September 7th.
Zoe Leonard
As part of the 2014 Whitney Biennial at The Whitney Museum of American Art (945 Madison Avenue), Zoe Leonard has transformed a section of the Museum's fourth floor gallery, into an enormous camera obscura, a naturally occurring phenomenon in which a small hole in one side of a dark chamber projects an inverted image of the outside view onto the surfaces of the room. She places us directly inside the camera, a magical exhibit. Through May 25th.

Curtain Up...
From Jazz brunch on Sundays to Jazz Nights on Tuesdays... great music with cocktails and bites at The Lambs Club (The Chatwal Hotel - 132 West 44th Street). April 15 to 17 Ballet NYThe 2014 season highlights the company premieres of Antonia Franceschi's Kinderszenen, Margot Parsons's Dreams and excerpts from Ginger Thatcher's Urban Study. At the Ailey Citigroup Theater (405 West 55th Street).
At the Metropolitan Opera (Lincoln Center Plaza), Strauss' three act comedic opera, set in Vienna, portrays the age old tale of the conflict of marrying for love or money.
THEATER & FILM:
Through April 12 Ruddigore
Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore, given by The Blue Hill Troupe, is an absolutely wonderful show with a superb cast. It is being performed at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio (1230 Fifth Avenue). There is a tax deduction, as money raised through ticket sales goes to the Quality Services for the Autism Community.

Cabaret
A magnificent revival at the Roundabout Theater's Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). Michelle Williams is a perfect Sally Bowles! Her Broadway debut is filled with all the razzle-dazzle that will keep you captivated for the entire performance. Through July 11th.
Rocky
We all know the story of Rocky Balboa, and I have to say that I was skeptical about how this could transfer from screen to Broadway... but I was taken by surprise. Rocky knocks it out of the park with the scenic showplace, the sound and lighting, and a terrific cast. At the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway) through November 23rd.
The Library Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brockovich, Ocean's Eleven) returns to the stage to direct The Library. A cold and chilling world premiere that asks us to examine our relationship to the truths and lies that profess to heal us. I've just purchased a block of tickets for this much anticipated play at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette). Through April 27th. April 29 to June 8 NYC Ballet Spring Season

 For the Foodie... Easter Brunch Easter is April 20th - if you are staying in the city with no plans to cook up your own feast, find the perfect holiday brunch to indulge with friends and family with my uptown and downtown picks for Brunch spots that even the Easter Bunny would approve.

65 East 55th Street (between Park & Madison Avenues) Aquavit, renowned for its classic Scandinavian preparations, is offering a special prix fixe Easter menu for $75 with specialties such as Grilled Neck of Lamb and Seared Arctic Char.

For the holiday, their $95 prix fixe menu offers first courses and entrées to suit a variety of palates; egg dishes, fish, pasta, and classic brunch options (like pancakes) are all offered at the Upper East Side staple inspired by French cuisine.

Emphasizing food from Liguria, Italy, the restaurant shares the Italian Easter specialty Pastiera di Grano, a ricotta cheesecake incorporating farro grains. You can enjoy a slice at the restaurant the week of Easter, and whole cakes can be ordered to enjoy at home, making for a beautiful centerpiece.

Rosemary's Italian Cuisine18 Greenwich Avenue (at West 10th Street)In addition to serving their regular brunch menu, they are adding 3 Easter entrée specials. In the heart of Greenwich Village, the Italian restaurant serves food with many ingredients grown right on their rooftop farm, something very unique for New York.  The Red Cat Restaurant New American Cuisine 227 Tenth Avenue (between 23rd & 24th Streets) At this cozy bistro in Chelsea, guests can order from the regular brunch menu or try an Easter special such as the Lobster Omelet with caramelized onions and spring greens. Tocqueville American Cuisine  1 East 15th Street (between 5th Avenue & Broadway) This Easter Sunday, benefit from one of the city's best green markets, as Tocqueville specializes in market-driven, local and sustainable eats. The $68 per person Easter menu includes decadent options such as French Toast with apple-pecan chutney and Pan-roasted Lamb Loin with lamb bacon... top off your meal with a delicious dessert.
