August 2  

Hudson River Park's Rumble on the River

Head to Pier 84 (at 44th St) for live Thai kickboxing featuring Amateur Muay Thai boxers from the New York area. A live boxing match on the river - you can't get any different than that!

Note:  

Originally scheduled for 8/1 but postponed due to rain.  

 

August 3 Summer Streets 

From 7am to 1pm, Park Avenue will be cleared from Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park so you can enjoy free activities such as biking, rock climbing and yoga. There will even be a zip line at Foley Square! Also August 10 & 17.

 

August 8  Roman Holiday 

Syfy Movies With a View - Brooklyn Bridge Park   

One of my favorites of all times, catch this outdoor flick! 

   
August 8  Big Apple Bash 
An evening of cocktails, music, and more on The Museum of the City of New York's Fifth Avenue Terrace overlooking Central Park.

PUNK: Chaos to Couture

Your last chance to visit this talked-about exhibit at the MET, examining punk's impact on high fashion.

At the Museum of Modern Art, the exhibit showcases the visionary Le Corbusier's work as an architect, interior designer, artist, city planner, writer, and photographer.

August 2  Sunset on the Hudson

Every Friday night at Pier 45 (at Christopher Street), this week's free performance will be the Max Gallico & Friends.

 

August 3  New York Made Benefit 

At Governors Island from 4pm-12am, a special summer benefit raising money and awareness for local charities that support Randall's Island Park (where the annual event was originally to be held).  Live music and performances through the night!   

 

Each Sunday, enjoy live music during your meal. This week, The Avalon Jazz Band will perform.  Also, every Tuesday and Wednesday in the Mezzanine Bar, see new and emerging jazz performers while enjoying cocktails and light bites. Starts at 7:30pm. 

August 4 Moondance
 
Sundays at Pier 84 (at West 44th Street), you can learn to dance for free, care of Dance Manhattan! This weekend features Tango with Hector Del Curto's Eternal Tango, followed by live music, sponsored by City Winery.   

 

August 6  Jazz Tuesday Series at Brassiere Beaumarchais 

On Tuesdays, enjoy delicious French food while listening to both French and American live Swing Jazz music.

 

August 8 Broadway in Bryant Park 

Every Thursday, visit the park for performances from Broadway's very best  shows... this Thursday will be from shows such as Wicked and Annie The Musical.   

 

   

Through August 4  The Tempest

Outdoor shows put on by New York Classical Theater.  Free off-Broadway theatre at Battery Park.


Through August 11  Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival  

Free events throughout the festival... world class music, dance, and readings. Check out the website for the full schedule.

 

Through August 24  Mostly Mozart 

An annual festival of concerts, opera performances, late-night recitals, and world premieres.

This is the time to try some New York icons and hip new spots.   I recently dined at SD26... along with visually stimulating ambiance, my friends and I had an amazing 3-course meal for $38! Try the Uovo in Raviolo - it was to die for!
