Shorewood Reads 2015
April 11-16, 2015:
Shorewood Reads 2015 asks village residents to read the same book and to come together to celebrate it, reading, our library, and our community. The book selected by the Shorewood Reads Committee, Shotgun Lovesongs, was chosen because it celebrates community- specifically, a small Wisconsin community that is in some ways like our own.

In Shotgun Lovesongs, we follow the stories of a group of friends as they navigate adulthood, balancing the everyday trappings of parenthood, marriage, and making ends meet with feelings of being young, innocent, and wild. Butler draws a vivid Wisconsin landscape and vocalized characters whose lives many of us will find reflections of our own.

Shorewood Reads will take place April 11-16, culminating in an evening at the library with Nickolas Butler. The event is being organized by Shorewood Library, the Friends of Shorewood Library, and Boswell Book Company.

For ongoing updates, check out the Shorewood Reads page on our website.

Minecraft Competition
Joint event for kids in grades 5-8
Walk into the library at around 3:30 on any school day and you're bound to see one thing: dedicated tweens and teens playing the online game Minecraft.

Knowing how many 'crafters we have in the community, we're excited to be holding official Minecraft competitions this fall. The North Shore Minecraft Building Competition is being held jointly with Whitefish Bay Public Library. The second one is next Saturday, November 15 at noon here at Shorewood Library.

Tweens in grades 5-8 can still register to be on the waiting list for a spot at a library computer, or can plan to come to the event with their own computer & Minecraft account - no registration required. It is open to all tweens, even from outside of the two communities.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
November 1 - 22
Throughout November, you can donate non-perishable food items at the library. TAB will organize them and take them to Hunger Task Force the week of Thanksgiving.

At their first meeting of the year, Shorewood Library's Teen Advisory Board (TAB) decided to extend their efforts beyond the walls of the library through a Thanksgiving-themed food drive. TAB is made up of teens in grades 7-12, mostly from Shorewood, who are driven to volunteer at the library and help make it a better place for all.

Your generosity could make Thanksgiving better for a family in need.
