Tales & Trails Storytelling
Brings together science & story for an event suited for all ages
We're excited to welcome Tales & Trails Storytelling to Shorewood Library on Thursday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m.

Seasoned storytellers Bob Kanegis and Liz Mangual will present "Seekers & Dreamers in Science and Story" which marries natural history and participatory storytelling. Developed for Chicago Public Library's S.T.E.A.M initiative - bringing science into the library - this is a hands-on experience that will lead us from outer space to the earth we walk on, with objects such as hummingbird nests to make the stories truly come alive.

Great stories are enjoyable for everyone, so while we are sure your kids will have a lot of fun with the participatory and hands-on nature of the event, we also invite folks of all ages to come along for the ride!

From the Friends
A monthly update from the Friends of Shorewood Public Library

Like eBay? Love books? Want to help the Shorewood Library?

The Friends of the Shorewood Library is seeking a book lover with Internet skills to volunteer for a fun and flexible job.

Here's the deal: Sometimes the Friends receive donations of materials for our ongoing Book Sale that are worth more than our usual $1 asking price. To get these items in the hands of people who will appreciate them - and raise money for the library collection and public programs - we are looking for a volunteer who could help sell them on eBay!

If you:

(a) have knowledge of how eBay works (need no training),

(b) can work at home, but could come regularly to the library to collect the sale items, and

(c) can commit to packaging and sending the books/materials when they sell

...then this job is for you!

We promise you lots of support from the Friends' book sale coordinator, the library staff, and the Friends' treasurer. Plus, you will meet some really interesting people, learn about collectable books, and have a new excuse to hang out at the library. (Not that you need one!)

Anyone interested in this position, or in learning more about the Friends, should contact us at [email protected]
