Greetings!
Spring is in the air and hopefully in your step! Walking is on our minds with the American Heart Association's National Walking Day on April 3rd. We've recently invested in a full TRX Suspension Training equipment system in order to give our patients and clients the optimum TRX rehabilitation and fitness experience. As always, we're pleased and proud to tell you about our Physician and Community partners.
And don't forget about our ongoing classes and Intro to MELT workshops.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue's articles, find them valuable and will forward the newsletter to a friend or tell someone about us. We also invite you to visit our website and social media channels.
To your health!

A Spring in your Step
Walk your way to health and fitness
The popularity of walking as an activity is growing by leaps and bounds. Low risk and easy to start, walking has proven health and fitness benefits. Physical inactivity can double your risk of heart disease! A regular walking program can help reduce blood cholesterol, lower stress and blood pressure, increase cardiovascular endurance, boost bone strength and help to keep weight down. Remember to keep the following in mind:
● Walk short distances to start and increase gradually ● Walk at a comfortable pace ● Focus on good posture with head lifted and shoulders relaxed ● Swing your arms naturally ● Breathe deeply - if you can't catch your breath, slow down or avoid hills ● Be sure you can talk while walking - if not, you're walking too fast ● Use walking poles or sticks if you need added stabilty ● Stretch before and after ● Have fun!
The American Heart Association's National Walking Day is April 3, 2013. Read more about National Walking Day 2013

Community Partner
Cancer Support Community-Benjamin Center
The Cancer Support Community-Benjamin Center in West L.A. revolutionized the way our culture faces cancer; enhancing the lives of tens of thousands of people affected by this illness and taking care to ensure that no cancer patient or family is ever charged for services. Dr. Harold and Harriet Benjamin, along with the Cancer Support Community, challenged the medical field to think beyond treating only the illness, arguing instead that treating the whole person will have a much greater effect. CSC helped the medical community understand and recognize the correlation between quality of life and health outcomes. The Benjamins believed in the powerful connection between emotions and physical well-being. Dr. Benjamin's Patient Active Concept encourages active participation in cancer treatment, camaraderie and community "to improve the quality of life and enhance the possibility of recovery." CSC's Benjamin Center, as the founding chapter, celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year. Visit their website or call 310.314.2555 for more info.
