May Newsletter

Welcome to our school newsletter with news and events for the month of May. We look forward to seeing all of our school parents at all of our special events throughout the month.
Principal's Message

On April 21st, Saint Dominic Church continued its 50th Anniversary celebration. Bishop O'Connell celebrated a beautiful liturgy at noon, and a luncheon reception followed in the Parish Center. In the evening, an adult gala was held at the Crystal Point in Point Pleasant. Thank you to our wonderful P.T.A. and parents for helping to make Saint Dominic's 50th Anniversary celebration a faith-filled community event!

During the month of May, we celebrate our mothers and honor our Blessed Mother Mary. Our second grade students, who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday, April 27th, will wear their Holy Communion attire and crown our Blessed Mother at the 11:00 A.M. Mass on May 3rd. I encourage all of our families to attend this beautiful Mass and ceremony, which has been a long-standing tradition in our church.

Congratulations are extended to our school secretary, Mrs. Margie Moran. Mrs. Moran was chosen to lead Saint Dominic's C.C.D. Program! During the past twenty-one years at Saint Dominic School, Mrs. Moran assisted many students, parents, and faculty, and I sincerely thank her for her service and dedication to our entire school community. Mrs. Moran will assume her new position when Mrs. Ann Cramer, Coordinator of the Religious Education Program, retires later this month. Mrs. Cramer successfully ran the C.C.D. program of our Parish for thirteen years, and it was a pleasure working with her to coordinate religious events and celebrations. May God bless Mrs. Cramer on her retirement and guide Mrs. Moran in her new role!

Welcome, Mrs. Alice Ferrier! Mrs. Ferrier was hired as our new school secretary. Mrs. Ferrier is a Saint Dominic parishioner and has an extensive background as an administrative assistant. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Ferrier to the staff of Saint Dominic School!

On May 9th, Mass will be celebrated to commemorate the Ascension of Our Lord into Heaven. Our faculty, staff, and students will attend Ascension Thursday Mass at 9:00 A.M. Thank you, Mrs. Fondonella, Mrs. Boege, Mrs. Hensley, the Religion Service Club, and Children's Choir for assisting in the preparations for this special liturgy.

May is a very active month at Saint Dominic School! Students can look forward to many fun-filled events such as the Student Council Talent Show, P.T.A. Spring Fun Relay, Blue Claws Game, Field Days, class trips, the Spring Concert, and the Memorial Day Parade. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend these events throughout the month.

Spring Concert

Join us "Under the Sea" as Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. comes to the St. Dominic Parish Center on May 29th at 7PM and May 30th at 1 PM. Get ready for an exciting theatrical experience with magical sets, colorful costumes, and high caliber performances from the Show Choir.

The Show Choir is a values-driven, after-school performance ensemble in which performers grow in self- confidence and communication skills through the preparation and performance of musicals while also practicing Christian service. Every Friday, the Show Choir reaches out to area nursing/ care facilities with a concert-style performance of The Little Mermaid, Jr. The performances have included visits to Brandywine (Alterra), Meridian at Brick, Laurelton, Brandywine, Spring Oak, Burnt Tavern, and the Concord. Their sharing of time and talent and friendship is heartwarming. Their parents and grandparents should also be applauded for their assistance in getting to the facilities.

The Liturgical Dancers and Children's Choir add their own special
touches to the stage performance. Mark your calendars for an evening of lively song, exciting dance, and great acting! Admission is free.
