CARF Health & Safety Standards Standard 1.H.14 in the Health and Safety section of the 2013 BH/CYS/OTP Standard Manuals states that there should be written procedures concerning hazardous materials that provide for the safe handling, storage, and disposal.
Many employees may not realize that this includes fluorescent light bulbs, copier toner, and computer monitors. Because all organization have these items in their offices, this standard likely pertains to every CARF-accredited organization. Read more |

Risk Management & Cell Phone Use
"Company cell phone policies should apply to both company issued call phones and private cell phones. In addition, if private cell phone use on personal matters (whether through a company issued cell phone or with a privately owned cell phone) are prohibited, that prohibition should be clearly stated. Moreover, if company issued cell phones are turned in by departing employees to be 'recycled' to other employees, it would be prudent for the employer to ensure that no private information or e-mail accounts remain on the company's cell phone before recycling the cell phone to other employees." From the January 2014 issue of the LIBA newsletter.

Support Informed Choice
Military personnel and veterans deserve a choice of treatment for PTSD. Current treatment of PTSD at VA and DoD facilities is usually limited to two therapy methods.
Civilians with PTSD have more therapy choices than military personnel and veterans with PTSD. Sign this petition to advocate that all VA and DoD facilities provide trained clinicians who offer military personnel and veterans informed choice of the four recognized, evidence-based PTSD treatments:
* Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
* Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
* Prolonged Exposure (PE)
* Stress Inoculation Training (SIT)
