Souk in the dictionary is defined as an open air market often known to be filled with a variety of colorful fruits and miscellaneous products!  This yarn has similar colors found in such markets!  It is a combination of silk and wool and self stripes!  It has 220 yards and is considered an aran weight.  We fell in love with the color combinations in each skein and the slubs of silk dispersed throughout!  This is ideal for bright shawls and scarves, kids hats and gloves and anything that you want to create that will brighten someone's day!
Pattern of the Week
Some of us like mittens, others prefer gloves...it's hard to tell just from looking at someone.  That could also make it tough when it comes time to decide whether to knit gloves or mittens for someone....well, we think that we have the ideal solution!  Oak Grove is written for either option and they are fingerless, allowing any user to text, dial or just sip a latte!  This pattern is an ideal way to impress your friends and relatives...the raised embossed leaf is easy to create and they will be floored with your talent!  You can use any dk weight yarn (Ultra Alpaca Light comes to mind) to whip up these useful, warm mitts or gloves!  Check out this week's pattern of the week....by the way, if you buy this pattern and the yarn for it, we'll give you 20% off....just because we want to!

Staggered starts to school, breaks for the holidays, supply lists, it's that crazy time of year....back to school!  It's a little chaotic at first, but we all eventually gather our wits and get into the required routine!
We're a little mixed up at Knit-a-Bit...we've moved some things around, created our Shibui Wall and have been receiving even more new yarns!  If only the days were longer to get more stuff done!

Speaking of mixing and Shibui, we will be hosting a SHIBUI MIX PARTY on Saturday, September 28th...are you scratching your head totally perplexed?  A MIX PARTY is a phenomenal opportunity to sample the Shibui Yarns (AWESOME), see some of the finished garments and check out the "mixture of yarns" to create the spectacular patterns!  Don't miss out on this fun event....no fee, just your presence is requested!  We can't guarantee that you won't leave with more yarn and projects!  Just come by and see what we've been raving about!

Kick off FALL with something new!

So it's unofficially fall....we have to face the music and prepare for cooler days ahead!  Prepare yourself and start a new project...do a shawl, do mittens, do a scarf, do a hat!  The possibilities are endless and you can be prepared for the season!

If you are stumped, why not check out the Class Schedule and try something new!  We are offering technique workshops, knitting clinics and beginner classes in addition to some special guests!  If you really want to tackle (it is football season) something different, sign up for Barbara Kreuter's class on Saturday, October 5th....she'll be teaching us the tricks to create the Frequency Cowl  shown here....Give us a call to sign up for any of these fun classes!
Caring People, caring gestures!

Cheryl is a giver....she takes on charitable projects with a vengeance; here's proof!  A few weeks ago we mentioned the Prevent Child Abuse in N.J. ; an effort to educate parents about Period of PURPLE Crying" which is during the first few weeks of an infants life.  They need our help!  Cheryl has been killing two birds with one stone.  She has taught some of her knitting groups how to crochet and create hats for this cause at the same time!  We thank all of the ladies that have contributed to this great cause while learning a new craft!
F.O.'s Gallery

We found some projects from the same pattern book from two different knitters!  These are from the Knitted Hoodies for Kids

Robin did these two matching sweaters for her grandsons.....they are adorabe and we can't wait to see them on once grandson #2 arrives!

Fernanda whipped this hooded sweater up for her grandson too!  We love the color combos and know that this will be enjoyed!

Great job ladies!
