Yarn Spotlight
We love versatility and this yarn defines it!  This is a great, "tie dyed" look yarn that is 100% cotton, tape construction with a myriad of project options!  A cowl, a tee, hats, shawls or a basic crewneck sweater are all possibilities with Sol Degrade!  It is 218 yards, super soft and works up beautifully on anything from an 8 to a 10 needle and guess what?  It's machine washable!
Pattern of the Week
Who doesn't love a great tee shirt? Imagine knitting yourself one in the super soft cotton like the Sol Degrade?  This topdown tee is ideal for any time of year and in a variegated yarn, you have a real fashion statement! The pattern is written for extra small to double x large! We love this for so many reasons, but primarily it is suitable for all levels, all sizes and looks great on everyone!

Hard to believe that the month of June is over....the cicadas are gone, our storewide sale is over and thanks to you, we REALLY did make room for new yarn!  We have empty cubicles and some more space, but not for long!  We will be filling those shelves VERY quickly and we can't wait to show you what we selected!  Get ready for a lot of fun stuff and new trends....neon colors are in, furry textured yarns are hot and bulky yarns will be back in full force!  You will see why we get so excited ordering all of this fantastic yarns!  Stay tuned in the next few weeks!
Let the games begin!
Believe it or not, we are already receiving new yarns for the fall season!  The first bunch of boxes came from Berroco and included in that is the much anticipated newest pattern booklet;
Norah Gaughan Volume 13
!  It is a collection of phenomenal "Norah esque" designs that are all worked top down!

In addition to that, we have some of their newest yarns; Marmot, Kodiak and Brio just to name a few! We welcome it all with open arms!
Happy Cupcakes.....

"Happy Cupcakes" is an exclusive song in my family and you are personally serenaded with it on your birthday by the songwriter himself!  Well, today is his birthday and we want to celebrate!

Why not share a little cupcake treat with all of you?  This is the Cupcake Hat using worsted weight yarn!  The variations of this hat are endless, why not add some "sprinkles' on top?  The best part about this pattern is that the completed hat will be thoroughly enjoyed and zero calories!
Teens, crafts, summer.....

We know that summer is meant to be a relaxing season and kids do just that....but a part of you wants them to keep busy!  We have a solution!  Emma (wonder teen extraordinaire) is available to teach fellow teens and tweens HOW TO KNIT!!!  Emma will be here on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 - 2:30 starting July 10th.    If you have someone in your household that has free time and wants to learn to use the "sticks and yarn" feel free to come visit Emma!  It is $20.00 per week and we just ask that you give us a call, 908.301.0053.  Come as often as you like!  Time off of the couch!!

F.O.'s Gallery

Ginny worked very hard on this adorable sweater for her granddaughter....it was a collaborative effort to say the least but the end results are awesome!  It was a pattern that we adapted and enhanced to meet her granddaughter's "requests" and she used Zara.

Laura finished up this great Bow and Arrow Hat and she used just one skein of Tara Tweed.  This is a great gift idea for those Hunger Games fans in your life and it's quick too!

Book of the Week

We have so many book titles to choose from with new arrivals in transit!  It is amazing how many things you can create and learn from the books that we have!  There is actually one book dedicated to Cast ons and Cast offs and it is phenomenal!  It is a book that any person that plays with yarn should own!  We have a lot of books just dedicated to socks!  Who knew that there were so many techniques involved with knitting socks!  There are also a variety of books all about afghans big and small, solid or multi colored, big needles or small needles!  Treat yourself and come, sit, peruse the books and choose a book (or more) to add to your collection!  Besides, the books are always 25% off so why not treat yourself?  Consider it your summer reading!
Yarn is everywhere and it's very hip and cool to "yarn bomb" every day objects as seen here....this was taken in Brooklyn, the hipster hub so apparently, it really is cool!
Laura will be here for Knitting at Noon because knitting and socializing go hand in hand!  She will be here from 12:00 to 3:00 on Monday, but the socializing (and knitting) continues with Pam on Monday evening for Knitting at Nite from 8:00 - 10:00!  Enjoy visiting, creating, chatting and playing with yarn!

Have a safe, happy Fourth of July.....we will be closed 7/4 through 7/8 and will reopen regular hours on Tuesday 7/9!  Looking forward to seeing you then!
