Yarn Spotlight

This week's spotlight is a personal favorite!  Casablanc
a is a great variegated
yarn comprised of silk, mohair and wool.  It is 220 yards and works up well on an 8 or 9 needle; a true worsted weight yarn.  The color combos are beautiful and make a fantastic scarf....I just so happen to know the perfect pattern.  Check out this week's pattern of the week!
Pattern of the Week*
Cheryl found this great pattern for a scarf that appears to be entrelac, but it's a trick of the eyes...it is created with increasing and decreasing on rows while switching between stockinette and garter stitch!  When you work it up in a variegated yarn such as Casablanca or Pacific Chunky, it is spectacular! *Did we mention that this pattern is FREE!!!
Gadget of the Week
We are often asked how to keep track of rows in a pattern and we all have various answers; pieces of paper with marks, check marks or whatever comes to mind....personally, I have a bunch of these row counters in various knitting bags throughout my house and my teenage boys know to NOT touch them!  The clicking noise is a comfort to me and helps me keep tally of rows!

What a tease!  The warmer weather this week just made us crave warmth sooner than later!  Well, we understand and have been busy making room for "lighter" yarns suitable for Spring!  Yarns from Berroco, Cascade and Tahki Stacy Charles will soon be gracing our shelves!  Speaking of new, many of you have inquired about the Tahki and ArtYarns newest collaboration; TSCArtYarns.  There will be three different yarns; Tranquility, Hand Dyed Zara and Adora all to be  presented in a "trunk show" at Knit-a-Bit in the VERY near future!  Stay tuned!  Consider the warm weather and this paragraph teases for the mind and soul!

O.M.G!

These Lipstick Purse kits are too cute for words!  They are more than ideal for proms, bridal parties, formal and or casual affairs and so much fun make!  We were fortunate to be able to snag a few before they were "formally introduced" at a recent trade show and trust me, they won't last long.....we guarantee that you will want to make more than one!  The colors are bright and cheery, the size is perfect and did we mention that we have adorable charms to enhance the finished felted project?  Come see what we mean and make sure you show off your finished Lipstick Purse!

Robin recently finished this adorable sweater for her grandson using Comfort DK.  We love the colors and the ribbed pattern will look adorable!  She dug this pattern up from an old Family Circle Knitting magazine!  She's a saver and it paid off!
Laura doesn't sit idle and was determined to enhance her crochet skills....behold, the results of her efforts! A cowl from the Crochet Cowl book and an adorable dog sweater for Oliver!

I also finished another Princess and the Pea Blanket for a friend....but, alas, I didn't get a picture....I used Comfort Chunky for this version, but have used 128 Cascade and Charly in previous renditions.  I love making this blanket!!

Book of the Week

Well, sort of....we have taken all of the Rowan books, magazines and booklets that we had and have drastically reduced them!  All Rowan books, et al are now 50% off!  There is quite an assortment of these classic pattern books and a multitude of pattern opportunities!  Don't miss out on this perfect chance to "enhance" your book and pattern library!

Meet the Sheep....

We adopted this sheep a while ago, but haven't found the proper way to show him off.....well, we think that this is a clever idea. We have filled him with booklets and patterns that have been drastically reduced!  We have arranged them in the sheep "belly" for easy perusal!  Check him out and call him whatever you like!  He likes the attention!

So we are pulling ourselves and the studio back together slowly but surely!  You will probably see us doing some more counting and moving things around but it's all for good reasons!

Pam will be knitting this Monday night and she always loves to catch up with everyone....you can discuss the SuperBowl commercials and Beyonce!
