Yarn Spotlight!
Zara is one of those yarns that just doesn't get the attention that it deserves!  This merino wool is 137 yards with a 5 - 5.5 stitch gauge on a 6-8 needle.  The colors are divine, the yarn is so soft, it shows phenomenal stitch definition which makes it great for crochet too and did we mention it's WASHABLE!
Show this week's yarn spotlight some love!
Gadget of the Week!

We all need a little extra support every now and then especially with unruly yarn!  The Yarn Bra is the perfect accessory to add to your collection! This clever gadget neatly contains your yarn, regardless of size (some of us love that size doesn't matter when it comes to support!) and keeps you and your yarn sane!

Pattern of the Week
This is a clever way to keep the baby warm and not too constrained while out and about in the car seat!  The pattern is well written and actually, Zara* would be the perfect yarn for this adorable baby must have! Purchase the pattern of the week for 25% off!

Big Announcement!!

Football and knitting go hand in hand, especially at Knit-a-Bit!  We have honored the sport with a sale every year around the same time as the Super Bowl!  Well, after ten years, we wanted to "kick things up a bit!"

We are kicking off a bit earlier this year and will be holding our annual sale January 26th and 27th! ONE WEEK EARLIER than usual! We are doing it like the Pro's do....we will be holding the sale the same day as the NFL Pro Bowl!

Now you will have a project at the ready just in time for kickoff!

Remember, sale days can be a little hectic, so feel free to stop by, look around and get inspired so that you can be prepared on "game day".

Stay tuned for more details!

Happenings!

With fluctuating temperatures it's easy to start thinking about Spring...the stores are already filled with warm weather clothing and the colors are spectacular!

We have seen a number of new yarns for the upcoming season and we are very excited!  There are a lot of fibers that are suitable for any and all season, some with a little shimmer and a lot that are just fun!  We actually have already received the newest pattern books from Berroco and they are good reading!   Felting is coming back with a much hipper look...we saw some Noni Bag patterns that we cannot wait to work up!! Stay tuned for these items some time in February!

Book of the Week

And now for something completely different! This week's featured book is an entirely new take on knitting garments, Knitting Off The Axis: Projects and Techniques for Sideways Knitting by Mathew Gnagy.  It is time to explore a new angle on knitting. Emerging new designer Mathew Gnagy has created a fresh collection of 15 sweaters for men and women that are knitted in a "New Direction".

All the patterns are knitted in angles other than traditional top-down or bottom up construction. Each of the patterns is designed in a one-of-a-kind way, focusing on knitting sideways or in an untraditional direction. Knitting at different angles gives these knit projects unique shaping, visual interest, and fashion-forward styles. You will love the new techniques and challenge of knitting sideways.

The first section, "Truly sideways" are designed knitted entirely sideways and include a lovely cabled pullover, several cardigans and a vests including vintage inspired vest with fabulous collar.

The second section, "Mostly Sideways" includes a modern take on the cape/poncho craze with cables and stand up collar, there is also a men's jacket pattern that is warm without being bulky. A truly masculine style sweater with interesting detailing.

The third section, "Every Which Way" includes designs with a combination of all different directions. Four fabulous patterns make up this section, including one call "Meredith" A swing coat that will have strangers stopping you on the street!

All of the patterns include several pictures of each finished garment, detailed instructions, charts where needed and schematics (always a plus). This book is the perfect way to jump-start your fall knitting. Stop in this week and pick up your copy of Knitting off the Axis @ 30% off.

F.O.'s Gallery!

Mari did this Must Have Cardigan , not once, but twice...the first time she used stash yarn, but wanted to do it again with a little bit more of a punch!  Using 220 Superwash from Cascade second time around has made this spectacular!

Fernanda did this beautiful sweater using Elements from Berroco.  She was so excited to show off this great looking garment, she forgot the name of the pattern, but promises to let us know this week!
Take note!  The Annual ProBall Sale is January 26th and 27th!!  ONE WEEK EARLIER THAN IN THE PAST!!!!!!!!!!

This past week we hosted a group of Newcomers of Westfield and did a Learn to Knit night.  They had a great time and loved learning to work with needles and yarn!  Dana was nice enough to share a picture of the festivities!  Welcome to the addictive world of knitting!

Pam WILL be knitting this Monday night and is anxious to see a lot of familiar faces!  No reservations required, just come to Knit-a-Bit from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. and enjoy!

Did we mention that we changed the date of the sale?  We are available to assist you prior to the sale....give you ideas, get yarn suggestions and just get you prepared for January 26th and 27th!  Looking forward to seeing you!
