We are a little bit in disbelief....we have been here 10 years and it seems like yesterday....you always remember the arrival of a child and then you are amazed at the speed at which they grow. That is how we are feeling right now; it is still fresh in our minds the very first day of business on December 5, 2002. It snowed. Business wasn't booming due to the weather and I sat at the window thinking that nobody would come to see what we were all about. I was wrong. People came that very first day and I'm thrilled to say that quite a few of those first day people still frequent Knit-a-Bit.
We have developed quite a community during the past 10 years and we are thrilled to be able to say that. Customers have become friends, we have gotten to know quite a few of you and have been able to provide a special place to come sit, knit, crochet and be comfortable. We have been here to listen, laugh and assist you and we are so proud of that and we want to say a very special thank you! Let this be an invitation to all of you to come by as we celebrate this milestone!

Fiber Royalty!
We are so thrilled to be hosting such "famous" people in the knitting and crochet world. It is almost hard to believe that Nicky Epstein is coming to Knit-a-Bit to wish us a Happy Birthday! She is the author of numerous books including her latest, KNITTING IN CIRCLES.
We will be hosting a tea on Tuesday, December 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Nicky will be signing books, answering questions and just being herself in our presence! Don't miss the opportunity to meet such an illustrious person in our industry!

Hats Galore!
Maxine has been very busy and has made good use of the down time that Storm Sandy provided! She made multiple Marly Hats from ITTY BITTY HATS by Susan Anderson. The color combinations are endless and the small yardage requirements allow you to use some scrap yarn! Maxine used 220 Superwash and we love the results!

A gift suggestion.....
We all deserve a little pampering especially at this busy time of the year. Why not "kill two birds with one stone" and buy an ideal gift for the knitters in your life and one for yourself.
These "Soak Boxes" include a skein of Lorna's Laces yarn, a pattern for fingerless gloves, Essie nail polish, SOAK wash to block the finished project and hand cream for the hands! What's not to love and it provides some t.l.c. to all of the recipients!

The rush begins...
It often seems that immediately after Thanksgiving, panic mode commences and people rush in with the request; "I need to make a quick scarf with chunky yarn and big needles."
This week's Yarn Spotlight should help a little bit. This is Link from Berroco; a super bulky, multi colored, chain link constructed yarn that can be worked up pretty quickly using size 35 or 50 needles! (rolling pin size!) The color combinations are great and the best part? There is a pattern for a scarf right on the label that only requires one skein! Problem solved and stress free!

Gadgets galore!
We have a variety of gadgets that are invaluable to knitters and crocheters....these make excellent stocking stuffers, trinket gifts and just a little something to have on hand! Everything from cute point protectors for needles (both straight and double pointed!) to great stitch markers in a sock, we have something for everyone. Not to mention that we are anticipating the arrival of some more "must have" gadgets!
Don't forget to buy something to contain all of the neccessities....we have a variety of fun bags from BlueQ, DellaQ, and Namaste to name a few!

We are so close!
We are thrilled to announce that we have collected 94 bears....we only need 6 more to reach our goal. The people that made the connection with Knitting Without Borders and Knit-a-Bit wanted to let us know how appreciative they were. They "kidnapped" the bears and sent us this phenomenal group picture.
It was extremely touching and of course made us quite proud of all of our customers for rallying to make this happen! There is still time to make a bear and here's the pattern in case you would like to contribute!
