ADD ACTION TO YOUR FAITH
(But only if you really want to
get somewhere!)
The Bible tells us that everyone has been given a measure of faith (Romans 12: 3). It's what we do with the faith we've been given that counts. Perhaps you've heard someone say, "I have faith that 'such and such' is going to happen..." But often times, you won't see that person acting on their spoken faith. Faith is a gift that has to be "activated" in order to produce results.
THE DEFINITION OF ACTIVATE:
A Verb; to activate means to make something active
or operable.
Are You Ready To
Activate Your Faith?
If you are, then saddle up and let's take the first Steps toward your unique and Amazing Destiny!
STEP #1
You must learn to...
HEAR GOD'S VOICE
(Listen To and Recognize)
"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it'."
(Isaiah 30: 21, NIV)
In order for my horse to willingly "move" in the direction I want him to go, he must first recognize my voice (or cues).
One of the best ways to put a damper on your faith walk is to "doubt" in the dark what God has spoken to you in the light! They're aren't any statistics available, but I'm sure more plans and dreams are abandoned for this one reason than all others combined. So, what do you do when you're in doubt about whether or not God is asking you to "activate your faith"? You listen closely to the voice, and then you read and study your Bible and make sure that the voice you are hearing is consistent and in line with the Word of God. Consistent means that there are no variations or contradictions in what you are hearing, and that of God's stated will for you. Let's be clear. God's stated will for you is the written word of God, - the Bible. If you're still in doubt after spending time in the Word, then talk to a respected pastor, or Christian counselor, and seek advice. Forget about going to your best friend. Seek a Christian professional who will not be emotionally involved, and will give you unprejudiced counsel.
STEP #2
You must learn to...
OBEY GOD'S VOICE
(TAKE ACTION)
"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."
(James 2: 17, NIV)
Once I am satisfied that my horse understands the direction I am asking him to go, I expect him to move his feet "promptly", without any hesitation
or delay.
When you know without a doubt that the voice of the Lord is speaking to you, then it is time for you to put all excuses aside, activate your faith, and start moving those feet promptly! Of course, for most people, that's easier said than done. Why? Because it is one thing to have faith. It's another thing to act on that faith. You see, faith is God's "gift" to you and me. We didn't do anything to earn our faith, and we didn't have to work for it.
God gave us faith of His own free will in order to empower us to do His will!
Remember, your faith is rendered useless or inoperable without action. In fact, the Bible minces no words. Faith that is not accompanied by works (action) is dead! Ahh, faith-filled action, now that's a scary thought, right? But not nearly as scary as dead faith. Have you heard God's voice speaking to you? If you have, and you know it, then "activate" your faith now, and move your feet!
STEP #3
You must learn to...
TRUST GOD
(Believe Him)
" Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
(Proverbs 3: 5 - 6)

There is no relationship between me and my horse without trust. It is a two-way street. He must trust me, and I must trust him. There is nothing that can take the place of trust. Trust is the cornerstone of all relationships. When our trust is in God, it builds our confidence, and allows us to overcome our insecurities and do the impossible.
Have you ever stopped to think much about trust (or the lack thereof), and what this simple word really means to you? Can you think of any relationship that you have ever had where trust was not the key ingredient for it's success? For me, trust is everything. Many years ago, when I was young and looking for lasting love, trust was always the cornerstone that either cemented my relationship with a person, or destroyed it completely because of it's absence. I have no doubt that more marriages are terminated for lack of trust rather than lack of love. You can love with all your heart, but if you do not trust the object of your affection, your relationship is doomed.
Now, I want you to consider this...
There is a direct connection between your trust and your faith.
For example, if I do not trust my horse, I will not get on my horse. Why? I don't trust him, and I want to live! In other words, I can love my horse deeply, but if I don't trust him, I'm not going to take the ride! Make sense? Let's take it further. When we give our heart and our life to Christ, we must come to Him with complete trust; trust that He is who He says He is, and trust that He will do what He says He will do. No matter how much God tells us that He loves us, trust is the real cornerstone of our relationship with Him. If we do not believe in His Word, and trust Him completely with our life, we will never "activate our faith", no matter what. And if we never activate our faith, we will never experience all the marvelous rewards that God has stored up just for us.
"And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."
(Hebrews 11: 6, NIV)
NEW YEAR
NEW CHANGES
Dear Readers,
Can you believe it's a new year already? For me, that means another opportunity to serve God with horse ministry, and another year to do it better and more effectively. That's why I've made the decision to trim back on things that aren't so important in our newsletter, and go full- steam ahead with things that are.
I am discontinuing last year's Q&A segment where I featured and answered emails from readers. I'm also discontinuing the newsletter segment known as Old Cowgirls And Horses, a blog about my life and adventures here on the farm. The reason is due to "not enough time", and my desire to simply prioritize what is most important to share with you.
Speaking of time, there has never been a more critical time in history for those of us who are called to teach and preach the gospel. If there ever was a "time", the time is now for you and me to accomplish the "number one job" that we were given to do according to God's Word. And what was that job? Spread the Word!
Encouraging you in your faith walk is my number one job. Because it is, I often have to "choose to sacrifice" other things in order to have time to share with you the information and teachings that I believe are most valuable, and most beneficial for you. I trust my decision to eliminate certain features of this newsletter will afford me more time to teach biblical faith using horses. Finally, I trust there is a good life lesson to be found in my new year's decision that will benefit us all. And what's the life lesson?
Now is the time for all of us to let go of the excess baggage in life that would slow us down, and run our race to win!
In His Love,
Susan
