Put On The
Full Armor of God
"Prepare your shields, both large and small, and march out for battle! Harness the horses, mount the steeds! Take your positions with helmets on! Polish your spears, put on your armor!"
(Jeremiah 46: 3 - 4, NIV)
No one who is aware of todays world news will deny that we are living in dangerous times. Have there been dangerous times in the past? Yes, but the acceleration of wars and rumors of wars, terrorism, violence, disease, and famines are increasing in number, and no longer do they have borders. The troubles that once seemed to be a world away are not only at our doorstep now, but they are already in our camp.
So, what are we to do as Christians? The Bible says that we are to put on the full armor of God and be strong in His power. To put on only a portion of His armor, or to rely on our own strength during this critical time of political change and world upheaval would be a grave mistake, both personally, and collectively as the body of Christ.
In my last newsletter, I briefly touched on the subject of putting on the full armor of God. Today, I want to expound on that subject, and not through my own teaching or interpretation, but through specific scripture. Why? Because God's Word says it best. There has never been a more critical time for the Church (those of us who are born-again) to understand the importance of spiritual warfare than right now. And there has never been a more critical time for you and me to put on the full armor of God. No longer do we have time for standing on the sidelines of our faith. Nor do people have the luxury of indecision concerning Christ. This is the time, - the time when God's people (His Church) are being called to "come out from amongst them" and be a separate people. A people who will do great exploits for His glory and proclaim the Word of God. To that end, may we stand strong in our faith, and in the knowledge of the Lord!

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God.
And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."
(Ephesians 6: 10 - 18, NIV)
Your
Spiritual Weapons
Are Not Carnal
"But the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds."
(2 Corinthians 10: 4)
The 7 Weapons Of Our
Spiritual Warfare
1. The Belt of Truth
"Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist."
(Isaiah 11: 5)
2. The Breastplate of Righteousness
"Not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith."
(Philippians 3: 9)
3. Feet Shod With The Gospel
of Peace
As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things."
(Romans 10: 15)
4. The Shield of Faith
"Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him."
(Proverbs 30: 5)
5. The Helmet Of Salvation
"Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards; for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ."
(2 Corinthians 10: 3 - 5)
6. The Sword Of The Spirit
"For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."
(Hebrews 4: 12 - 13)
7. Praying Always
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
(2 Chronicles 7: 14)

AND
HORSES
A blog/diary of my life with horses, and a few other adventures along the way.
"You say it best when you say nothing at all." (words to a country song recorded by Keith Whitley)
This morning I woke up to gray skies, pouring rain, and dangerous lightening. As I walked to the barn to check on my horses, I wondered if they knew that I had put them in their stalls the night before for their own protection. Or did they think I was just being cruel to them by keeping them inside and away from the things they liked to do best, like grazing and visiting with their equine buddies?
Turning the stall lights on, I noticed that each of my horses had a leg cocked comfortably (a sign of relaxation), and they were lazily munching hay like they were at a "bed and breakfast" hotel on vacation. I stopped at Samson's stall first. He turned to look at me, and then walked over to the stall door to greet me. Opening his mouth with a wide yawn, I could audibly hear him sigh. I kissed the gentle wrinkles that laid just above his eyes - the ones that gave him that soft expression and never failed to melt my heart. He yawned again, sighing once more with the sound of contentedness, and then he went back to eating his hay.
Later, as I walked back up to the house, I realized that my horse and I had communicated perfectly. I had protected him from the storms in the best way I knew how, and he had thanked me with warm gratitude and kindness in the best way he knew how. And nothing was lost in the translation. No doubt, I loved my horse, and he loved me. And we had said it best without ever having to say a word.
Q & A
Each month I receive emails filled with interesting and great questions. In this segment of our newsletter, I will share some of the special emails I've received. All names have been changed to protect the individual's privacy.
Hi Susan, I'm really enjoying all your newsletters. The reason I am writing is to ask you if you have a Facebook page ??? What about Twitter or are you on some other form of social media? If not then I'm just curious as to why not. I can't find anything other than your website and the newsletters I get. Your ministry with horses is a real blessing to me so please let me know if I am somehow missing you out there.

My Response To John
Howdy John, You can't find me out there because I spend most of my time in the saddle! I do not have a Facebook page at this point, and do not do the Twitter thingy! At least not now. Why? It's simply a matter of time management for me. No more - no less. I have a very busy life with my horses, a full-time evangelistic ministry, and a husband and family. To be honest, by the time I get to the end of each day, I don't have any time left to spare (other than for sleep), and little to no energy left on tap for being social. Please forgive me! I know everybody is Face-booking and Tweeting these days, almost as if it's a requirement of life. I do think social media is great, and confess that sometimes I feel like a "social misfit" because of my unwillingness to give up any more of my time to this computer. On the other hand, when I climb up in the saddle of my favorite horse, or get in the Word and prepare my next newsletter, or just go out for a quiet, romantic dinner with my husband, then I know I've made the right choice for me, and the best use of my time. Of course, life is all about changes. So, who knows? Perhaps in the near future, the Lord will somehow expand the hours I have been given each day. If so, then don't be surprised if you find me out there in the clouds making new friends and tweeting away!
