We Are Children Of God
First and Foremost
Before we talk about people, let's talk "horses" for just a moment. Have you ever thought about the crucial importance of a Sire's genetics when it comes to horse breeding? In the world of performance horses, a stud horse with royal lineage and a proven track record is highly sought after. My quarter horse, Samson, was an embryo transfer baby, and he's a good example of select breeding for discipline-specific performance. His Sire was AQHA Simply Hot - two time Congress Reserve Champion in Western Pleasure. This horse was specifically chosen to be Samson's daddy in hopes that he would pass along his beauty, conformation, and talent to his offspring. Finally, a talented colt nicknamed Samson entered the world. He was not only the spittin' image of his daddy, but he inherited his Sire's best qualities and talent, too. By the age of two, Samson was already showing competitively and winning in the western pleasure show ring.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT PEOPLE
Every horse person loves to brag about their horse's lineage, especially if it's exceptional. And why not? Those blood lines don't come cheap! But what about people and their blood lines? Well, that's a different story. When you ask a person who their daddy is, you might get a lot of different answers. Some might tell you their daddy's name, what he did for a living, or what his character was like. Some people are even proud of their earthly heritage. On the other hand, there are people who never knew their daddy. Or perhaps they grew up with an abusive dad. They feel their life was just an accident from the beginning, and they often deal with feelings of shame and insecurity rather than pride. The truth is, no matter what kind of daddy you had here on earth, you are a child of God - first and foremost.
WE ARE MORE THAN
FLESH AND BONES
You and I are more than flesh and bones. The Bible says that we are spirit beings who live in a physical body. The Bible also says that we were created in the image of our Heavenly Father. Think about that for just a moment. Sometimes you hear someone say, "That person looks a lot like his daddy." What they're saying in essence is that the person physically resembles the earthly parent. But God says something completely different about His children. He says that we were "created in His image". God's image is a Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. You and I are made in the image of God, and we, too, are a trinity that includes our soul (intellect or mind), our physical body, and our spirit.
No matter who your earthly daddy is or was - whether he was loving and kind, rotten to the core, or plain ol' missing in action - your royal, heavenly lineage is stronger and richer than your inherited, earthly DNA.

One day I asked God,
"How is it that no matter where I go, you are there, too? How did you know that I would be right here at this exact moment in time?
Even I'm not sure how I got here."
God simply replied, "I am that I am."
