MORPC Commuter ChallengeJust how much does that car in the garage cost you each year? Even if you own an old beater, there's insurance and maintenance, and gas adds up. None of this takes in to account the headache of driving in rush hour or the cost on the environment. But giving up a car? Man, that can be scary. What about just testing the waters (okay, roads and sidewalks) for just a month by using other forms of transportation? And what if we told you, it's a game and you get the chance to win weekly and monthly prizes?

Exhibit: Red Horizon: Contemporary Art and Photography in the USSR and Russia, 1960-2010Now through September 24
Columbus Museum of Art
Coinciding with the centennial of the 1917 Russian Revolution, Columbus Museum of Art presents Red Horizon: Contemporary Art and Photography in the USSR and Russia, 1960-2010. This timely exhibition is drawn from two facets of Neil K. Rector's world-class art collection: Soviet and Russian photography from the 1970s to the early 1990s, and the work of Moscow-based unofficial artists who came to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s. Combining more than 300 works from these two aspects of the collection, Red Horizon offers fresh perspective on the art and life of this period, and suggests how creativity and critical thinking manifest themselves under the most difficult social and ideological circumstances.

Exhibit: ...of space and bloodJune 30 - July 29
Columbus Cultural Arts Center
Painter Amandda Tirey is intrigued by space and the vast biological existence inside and around us. Her large format works in oil appear to freeze the motion of active forms floating in an ambiguous space devoid of gravity, or capture slices of an anonymous aura delicately placed in a Petri dish. She creates her own visual science by bringing to life these fictional Liquidscapes and grand nebulous worlds.
