How Safe Is Your Data?
April 13, 8:30 a.m.
Chase Tower, 6th Floor
Capital Crossroads SID presents a Security and Big Data Forum
Whether you're a large Fortune 500 company or a small business, the threat of hackers or scammers lifting sensitive data from our organizations is on top of everyone's mind. IBM estimates businesses are attacked an average of 16,856 times a year. That's 46 attacks every business has to deal with every day - or nearly two attacks an hour.

Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District has once again assembled a team of experts to address how to protect your computer network, digital files as well as the physical security of your company's data. Learn how you can protect your organization's data and keep the trust of your clients and customers. Expert panelists include: Columbus City Council Member Michael Stinziano; Nicholas Hinsch, CEO of eVAL; Nicole Walker, director of External Affair with AT&T; Blair Staud, vice president of Ohio Support Services; and David Wilson, an attorney with Kegler Brown. City to Resume Downtown Street Sweeping
The city of Columbus will resume overnight weekly street sweeping in the Central Business District beginning pre-dawn Monday, April 4. Downtown weekly street sweeping has been done for many years, but cars parked on streets overnight have blocked street sweepers from curbs where litter and debris collects. Downtown residents, employees and visitors are asked to move their parked cars off streets on Sunday and Monday nights before midnight to make room for street sweepers to sweep along curbs. The weekly street sweeping schedule will be:

  • Mondays, 12:01 a.m. - 6 a.m.: Sweeping on the south sides of streets that run east-west and on the east sides of streets that run north-south
  • Tuesdays, 12:01 a.m. - 6 a.m.: Sweeping on the north sides of streets that run east-west and on the west sides of streets that run north-south

Motorists are encouraged to look for all posted signage before parking on the streets. No Stopping signs that include days and hours of parking restrictions for street sweeping have been posted downtown. Vehicles that are illegally parked during the restricted hours will be ticketed and towed.

March 29, noon - 1 p.m.
Ohio Statehouse Map Room
In celebration of Women's History Month, take a special tour of the Ohio Statehouse and learn about Ohio's first female state legislators elected in 1922. The election of 1922 delivered six women to Ohio's 85th General Assembly, two to the state Senate and four to the House of Representatives. Since 1922, more than 150 women have served in the halls of the Ohio Capitol building, one of them as Speaker of the Ohio House. Speaker Jo Ann Davidson served as the presiding officer of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1995 to 2000. In June 2008, a room in the Ohio Statehouse was dedicated to serve as a lasting tribute to those first six women. The Ladies' Gallery, located off the Statehouse Atrium along its southeast passageway, pays homage to the first female Ohio legislators who paved the way for women in government, and honors all women who have served in the Ohio General Assembly. Its enduring function will be to inform and inspire all who visit--especially young women and girls--to take an active role in democracy.
