John H. McConnell Blvd. will be closed between W. Spring St. and New Public Ln. for the Winter Park Event through Friday, March 4. Please be alert for extra pedestrian traffic in this area during the event which runs from Friday, January 22, through Sunday, February 21.
Closures for 5th Line 5K Race
W. Nationwide Blvd. between N. Front St. and John H. McConnell Blvd. will be closed on Saturday, January 23 from 6 - 11 a.m. for the race, which begins at 10 a.m. The following streets on the race course will be temporarily closed to traffic during the time needed for the race to pass: west on W. Nationwide Blvd. to Neil Ave.; south to W. Spring St.; east to N. Front St.; south to W. Broad St.; west to Washington Blvd.; south to W. Town St.; east to the Rich Street Bridge to N. Front St.; south to E. Main St.; east to S. High St.; north to Nationwide Blvd.

Parcels to Places Competition
The Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing and the City of Columbus Land Redevelopment Office, with additional funding from the Columbus Foundation, and in partnership with the Neighborhood Design Center have announced Parcels to Places, a competition to redevelop vacant lots throughout Columbus. Parcels to Places is a pilot project, which will showcase creative ideas and strategies for transforming Columbus' vacant land into an asset that contributes to community needs. The competition launch will be held on Tuesday, February 9t at 6:00 p.m. at the King Arts Complex (867 Mt. Vernon Avenue).

ODOT Distracted Driver SimulatorNow through January 31
Ohio Statehouse Map Room
The distracted driver simulator features a computer-generated simulation of texting while driving. The set-up includes a steering wheel, turn indicators, gas and brake pedals. After "buckling up," the driver takes the wheel and tries to drive with distractions. ODOT uses the simulator as a tool to educate young drivers and the public about the dangers of distracted driving.

After the success of the outdoor ice rink during last year's NHL All-Star Game, the NHL-sized rink will be open to the public again this winter. Visitors can skate, play hockey and participate in a variety of community events. There will also be bleacher seating, a skate rental tent and four heated locker rooms. Admission to skate will be $5 and includes skate rental. When you need to warm up, enjoy the fire pits and the large heated tents where you can find food, beverages and Blue Jackets games on the video board.
