Ohio Statehouse Parking Garage Entrance/Exit Closure

Due to the cold temperatures, the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board closed the Ohio Statehouse parking garage's Broad Street entrance/exit and the Third Street exit on February 18 at 6:30 p.m. These entrances/exits will be closed:

 

February 18, 6:30 p.m. - February 19, 7 a.m.

February 19, 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

February 19, 6:30 p.m. - February 20, 7 a.m.

 

The State Street entrance/exit and Third Street entrance will remain open 24/7. This is a proactive measure to prevent damage to the Ohio Statehouse and Capitol Square facility. Contact Luke Stedke at 614.728.2130 with any questions.

Broga Yoga Now Offered at Downtown YMCA
40 W. Long St.
Trained Broga Yoga Instructor Christopher Haverlock and Downtown YMCA are excited to bring this new offering to Central Ohio. This is the first licensed Broga class in Columbus and is designed to inspire more men to benefit from yoga. The classes combine traditional power yoga with functional fitness exercises, resulting in a practice that builds muscle, improves flexibility, reduces risk of injury, relieves stress and improves balance. The class is designed to bring fitness-based yoga, like that practiced by professional athletes, to those who might not be able to touch their toes. Road Race Updates

Columbus City Council passed legislation requiring that road race promoters apply for a permit at least 30 days prior to an event and to reach out to affected neighborhoods along the race course. This section will post updates about race applications that have been filed for downtown to allow for comment. Please send any comments to Kelly O'Dell at [email protected].

The CAC presents Walter Hermann's second solo exhibition, which brings together all aspects of his artistic past to create a new body of work that explores the connections between humans and nature. Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery

In a tribute to the Ohio Arts Council's 50th anniversary, OAC's Riffe Gallery kicks off the year with a milestone exhibition, A Century of Ohio Watercolor. Produced by the Southern Ohio Museum, Portsmouth and curated by SOM Artistic Director Charlotte Gordon, the exhibition spans the years of 1915 - 2015 and showcases more than 45 Ohio artists working in the versatile medium of watercolor. Crafternoons! is a creative art-making program geared toward adults who love innovative and crafty projects. Guests 16 and over create unique projects each month with supplies provided by the Space. This month, guests will transfer photographs onto fabric. This is a great way to create personalized crafts out of memories or favorite pictures. Some fabric will be provided, but feel free to bring your own pillow cases, shirts or other items you would want to personalize. Main Library "Wall-Breaking" Ceremony
February 24, 5:30 p.m.
Columbus Metropolitan Library
Library board members, staff, donors, dignitaries, and members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony, which will feature brief remarks and a "wall-breaking" by city officials and several of CML's youngest customers. The renovation of the Main Library is its first since 1991 and represents a major piece of CML's aspirational building program to renovate or rebuild 10 library locations within the next few years. CML's primary goals with the renovation are to: build a library that meets the needs of CML's customers; connect the library to Topiary Park to provide outdoor reading space; update the front plaza on Grant Ave.; add a reading room that will also serve as a civic event space; enhance the children's area. http://www.columbuslibrary.org

Jordan Tate makes his Columbus solo debut with this exhibition of new work. Working From Photographs explores notions of how we experience places and histories through images and sculptural artifacts. This show coincides with an exhibition of the same title at Denny Gallery in New York. His presentation on February 19 at the Columbus Museum of Art will focus on his artistic process and work currently on display in Viewpoints: Murals by Young Professional Working Artists. COTA Short-Range Transit Plan Public Comment Meetings

February 26, noon and March 3, 6 p.m.

Two public comment meetings will take place regarding proposed updates to the COTA Short-Range Transit Plan (STRP). These meetings are being held to present proposed plans for the implementation of future transit service and to highlight major capital initiatives planned to take place over the next five years. Included in the plan are improvements to transit service, capital investments and COTA's portion of the regional transportation improvement program. The STRP also provides a plan for current and future uses of local, state and federal funds. http://www.cota.com
