Nationwide Boulevard Improvement Project Complete

A $4.3 million streetscape project has now been completed along Nationwide Blvd. A collaborative effort between the City, Nationwide Realty Investors, Capital Crossroads SID and property owners along the Nationwide Blvd. corridor, this public-private partnership helped to fund, design and construct the project. Improvements were made along Nationwide Blvd. between Front St. and Fourth St. and the east side of High S. from Nationwide Blvd. to the CSX railroad bridge. The streetscape improvements include wider margins, new concrete sidewalks with brick paver accents, clay brick crosswalks, new landscaping with street trees, landscape beds and irrigation, and the addition of LED underlighting for the Third Street Bridge.

The Women's Fund of Central Ohio Keyholder Event Tickets

Tickets for the Women's Fund of Central Ohio Keyholder Event, this year featuring Melissa Etheridge, will go on sale on January 25. Melissa Etheridge writes songs focused on strength, resiliency, romance and inspiration, which have resonated with audiences for decades. COTA Announces Annual Ridership Numbers

The Central Ohio Transit Authority provided 19.3 million bus trips, the highest annual ridership on the system since 1986. Ridership increased more than 550,000 trips above 2013, representing nearly a three percent increase in annual ridership. COTA continued it dedication to expanding and improving service in 2014, launching the CBUS and reverse commute service to the New Albany International Business Park, and making improvements to passenger amenities. http://www.cota.com

Pushing traditional printmaking techniques to their limits, Samantha Parker Salazar constructs intricate cut-paper installations, inspired by hours of meditation, her work focuses on the obsessive layering of surface imagery and stylized motifs. A vortex of cut forms and vibrant hues, the physical manipulation of paper gives the conceptual power of beauty, destruction and potential to simple material. http://uas.osu.edu

DRIVEbys: An exhibition of unconventional architecture for the most conventional thing

Five Columbus architects developed designs for Bold Booths, an original and innovative proposal for installation of attendant booths at downtown surface parking lots, as part of Finding Time: ColumbusPublicArt2012. Drawings, models and descriptions of the six designs are on view at the exhibition. DRIVEbys documents projects by Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design, BAWorkshop, Blostein/Overly Architects, Neal Clements, and DesignGroup. The exhibition is curated and designed by Beth Blostein, Associate Professor, Knowlton School of Architecture, and Bart Overly, Blostein/Overly Architects. The exhibition is open to the public. An Engagement/Impact Grant from The Ohio State University Office of Outreach and Engagement is providing primary support for this initiative and the exhibition. The Women's Sports Report

The breakfast celebrates girls and women in athletics, including local athletic achievements throughout 2014 and Columbus' growing stature as a top destination for women and girls' sporting events. Two of the nation's best long-distance runners, Sara Hall and Stephanie Rothsein-Bruce, will speak at the event about the role of women in growing long-distance running and will promote the USA Half Marathon Championships, which will be hosted in Columbus as part of the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon in 2016 and 2017. They will be joined by Tracie Hitz, NCAA Director of Championships and Alliances - Women's Basketball and Andrea Williams, Championships Director for Football and Basketball at the Big Ten Conference, and Ohio State Senior Athletic Director Diana Sabau.
