Capital Crossroads and Discovery SID Announce Annual Award Winners 
Capital Crossroads and Discovery SIDs held their Annual Meeting during which they announced award winners in several categories. They include:

Puffin Foundation West, Java Kitrick for Service in Capital Crossroads SID for the one-to-one matching program in Pearl Market.

Denny Griffith for Service in Discovery District SID for his efforts during his presidency at CCAD.

RAW Gallery for Aesthetic Contribution in Capital Crossroads SID for George Leach's decision to open the gallery in an area of downtown just beginning to bubble with activity.

The City of Columbus, Ohio Department of Transportation and Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission for Aesthetic Contribution in Discovery SID for the Long Street Cultural Wall bridging the King Lincoln District and the Discovery District.

COTA for Outstanding Achievement in Capital Crossroads SID for launching the CBUS circulator bus service.

Cristo Rey High School for Outstanding Achievement in Discovery SID for renovating the former Ohio School for the Deaf and opening a school program for economically challenged families.

Zenaida Allen, Ambassador of the Year in Capital Crossroads SID for her strong work ethic, gracious personality, efficiency and enthusiasm.

Henock Tequabo, Ambassador of the Year in Discovery SID for his strategic thinking, enthusiasm, professionalism and productivity.

To celebrate investing in Downtown ColumbUS and practicing general dentistry for 20 years, Dr. James B. Ford is hosting a raffle to benefit Capital Crossroads SID. Entry forms can be completed at the office of Dr. Ford between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until January 5. Each entrant will get a complimentary oral care kit from Dr. Ford. The drawing will be held on January 6 and the Grand Prize Winner will receive a $1,000 gift certificate for dental services; the second prize winner will receive a $500 gift certificate for dental services; and five third prize winners will receive a $100 gift certificate for dental services. For every entry received, Dr. Ford will donate $1 to Capital Crossroads SID to support their services and programs.

Take COTA This New Year's Eve

You can leave your car at home this New Year's Eve and let COTA be your designated driver. COTA is offering service on the CBUS and Line 21 Night Owl until 3 a.m. on January 1. CBUS will run every 15 minutes from the Brewery District to the Short North, with service starting at 7 a.m. on December 31. The CBUS is free to ride. The Line 21 Night Owl runs every 30 minutes on High Street serving Clintonville, Ohio State, Short North, Park Street, the Arena District and Downtown. Night Owl service starts at 7 p.m. on December 31. Passengers can ride the Night Owl for $2 each trip. Day Passes are available on the bus, good for unlimited riding, for $4.50. Drivers will accept Day Passes activated on December 31 from customers boarding the bus between midnight and 3 a.m. on January 1. http://www.cota.com

All-Star Winter Park Set for NHL All-Star Weekend

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced plans for Columbus Blue Jackets All-Star Winter Park to be held in McFerson Commons, across the street from Nationwide Arena. The park will feature an outdoor ice rink, a massive three-lane snow slide down Nationwide Blvd. and will serve as a hub for outdoor entertainment for fans of all ages before and during the All-Star Weekend, January 24 - 25. The ice rink will be open January 16 - 25, featuring public skating, youth hockey, private events and other programming. The snow slide will be open January 22 - 25. NHL All-Star Voting

NHL fans have the power to select six players to play in the All-Star Game: three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie. Vote up to 10 times a day. Each vote counts as a sweepstakes entry; the grand prize is a VIP Weekend for two to the Honda NHL All-Star game and other festivities. The avant-garde fashion label threeASFOUR (made up of designers Adi Gil, Angela Donhauser and Gabriel Asfour) has worked with Bjork, Yoko Ono, Kate Spade and the Gap. TOPOGRAPHIC will feature their new collection, which reveals the varied visual aspects of nature and its inherent geometries through a topographic approach rendered in shades of white. The exhibition will also include threeASFOUR's recent experimentation in new technologies that provide an immersive virtual fashion show experience. Almond Zigmund's work sharpens out perceptions of space while exploring the nature of opposition. Ninth Annual Ohio Online Visual Artists Registry

Columbus Main Library, Carnegie Gallery

OOVAR is an online database that showcases the work of more than 1,200 artists from around the world. The show features original works by Ohio artists and is a joint project of the Ohio Arts Council's Individual Artist Program, the Arts & Media Division of Columbus Metropolitan Library and the Friends of the Library. A $1,000 prize will be awarded to the winner of Juror's Choice and a $500 prize will be awarded to the People's Choice winner, who will be selected by visitors to the exhibit and library customers through Saturday, January 3.

Fresh A.I.R. Gallery

Brown's show features vibrant colors and various textures derived on mixed media surfaces, highlighting his desire to connect with the family of mankind. DRIVEbys: An exhibition of unconventional architecture for the most conventional thing

Five Columbus architects developed designs for Bold Booths, an original and innovative proposal for installation of attendant booths at downtown surface parking lots, as part of Finding Time: ColumbusPublicArt2012. Drawings, models and descriptions of the six designs are on view at the exhibition. DRIVEbys documents projects by Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design, BAWorkshop, Blostein/Overly Architects, Neal Clements, and DesignGroup. The exhibition is curated and designed by Beth Blostein, Associate Professor, Knowlton School of Architecture, and Bart Overly, Blostein/Overly Architects. The exhibition is open to the public. An Engagement/Impact Grant from The Ohio State University Office of Outreach and Engagement is providing primary support for this initiative and the exhibition.
