In This City I Can BE Downtown Video Contest
Local business owners will have the chance to compete for 10,000.00 toward a Columbus office in the Capital Crossroads SID In This City I Can BE Downtown video contest. Entrepreneurs looking to relocate downtown or those already downtown planning to expand can submit videos showcasing what sets downtown Columbus apart as an ideal place to relocate a business, or why they currently benefit from doing business downtown and want to expand. Video entries should creatively detail how the money the winner saves on rent will be used to improve the business. Video submissions will be accepted through September 30. When the submission period ends, applicants will have the month of October to collect as many online votes as possible. The top 10 videos will then go before an expert panel of SID judges, with the 10,000.00 winner being announced on November 3. http://www.bedowntowncolumbus.com

No-Cost Fitness Classes

Through September 30

Columbus Commons

The no-cost fitness classes taught by Ohio Fit Club and held at Columbus Commons return this week. The classes are free of charge thanks to a sponsorship from UnitedHealthcare. Classes include Runners' Prep, Bootcamp, Crossfit, Hip Hop, Kickboxing, Yoga and Zumba. All participants are required to register and fill out an online waiver. COTA Special Anniversary Offer

When you purchase a 31-Day Pass during the month of August at COTA's Pass Sales Office or authorized pass sales agent, you will receive a coupon that can be redeemed inside COTA's Pass Sales Office between September 2 - 30 for 4.00 the cost of a 31-Day Pass. The coupon is also valid for a 4.00 discount toward a Mainstream monthly pass. The COTA's Pass Sales office is located at 33 N. High St. and is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Columbus Underground School Supply Drive

Columbus Underground is partnering with Neighborhood Services Inc. to help families in need with the school supplies their children need to succeed in school. They are collecting stuffed backpacks to donate through August 7. Neighborhood Services Inc. also collects gift cards to clothing department stores to help families in need shop for back-to-school clothes. Backpacks and supplies can be dropped off at Columbus Underground's offices at 14 E. Gay St., Floor 5, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. For a list of needed supplies, click here.


 

Additionally, Columbus Underground offices will serve as a collection point for loose supplies to be donated to the Hubbard Mastery School PreK - 6, a school in the Columbus City School District. 

 

MORPC Central Ohio Bike Trails Survey

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission will be surveying users of Central

Ohio Bike Trails between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. through August 31 as part of an Economic Impact of Trails Study for Central Ohio being conducted by the University of Minnesota. MORPC and University of Minnesota representatives will be at various locations and times along the Olentangy, Alum Creek and Scioto Trails conducting intercept surveys. They will be identifiable by their yellow vests. Along with the intercept surveys, an online survey is available here. More information on the project can be found here.

Columbus City Council passed legislation requiring that road race promoters apply for a permit at least 30 days prior to an event and to reach out to affected neighborhoods along the race course.
