No-Cost Fitness Classes

Begin the week of July 28

Columbus Commons

The no-cost fitness classes taught by Ohio Fit Club and held at Columbus Commons will return the week of July 28. The classes are free of charge thanks to a sponsorship from UnitedHealthcare. Classes include Runners' Prep, Bootcamp, Crossfit, Hip Hop, Kickboxing, Yoga and Zumba. All participants are required to register and fill out an online waiver. MORPC Green Region Awards Nominations

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is seeking nominations for the Green Region Awards, honoring individuals and organizations working to create a more vibrant and environmentally sustainable region. car2go Expands Service

Car2go has expanded into the Greater Grandview Area, including Grandview Heights, Marble Cliff, Fifth by Northwest area and sections of Clinton Township, as well as the neighborhood north of Broad St. in Franklinton. Columbus Community Research Partners Survey

The City of Columbus is asking residents to take part in the 2015 - 2019 Consolidated Planning process. They ask that you take a few minutes to participate in the Consolidated Plan resident survey. The Consolidated Plan is a collaborative process to identify housing and community development needs and to establish goals, priorities and strategies to address those needs, especially for low- and moderate-income households.

 

The City of Columbus needs help in setting priorities for use of funds for community development issues in our community. Your input will help identify how our community will spend its federal HUD dollars over the next five years. Please take 10 minutes of your time to complete the resident survey here

Jazz and Rib Fest Road Closures

The Jazz and Rib Fest will be held Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20. Motorists are advised to watch carefully for extra pedestrian and bicycle traffic in downtown Columbus. Participants are encouraged to walk, bike, take COTA or carpool to the event to help with traffic and parking congestion.

 

Street closures will be as follows:

  • Hanover St. closed between W. Spring St. and W. Long St. on July 16 at 9 a.m.
  • On Thursday, July 17 at 9 a.m., the following closures will begin:
  • W. Long St. between Hocking St. and Marconi Blvd. (one lane will open for rush hour on Friday, July 18 from 6 - 9 a.m.); motorists should consider I-670, Broad, Town or Rich streets as eastbound alternates.
  • Neil Ave. from Spring St. to Long St. (one lane of Neil Ave. from New Public Ln. to W. Long St. will be made available for Friday, July 18 from 6 - 9 a.m.)

On Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m., the following closures will begin:

  • W. Spring St. from West St. to Hanover St.
  • Neil Ave. from New Public Ln. to W. Spring St. (local access maintained for the North Bank Condos)
  • John H. McConnell Blvd. from New Public Ln. to W. Spring St.
  • West St. between W. Nationwide Blvd. and Marconi Blvd. (local access maintained)
  • Cozzins St. immediately north of W. Spring St.

 All streets and lanes will be open by 6 a.m. on Monday, July 21.

Urban Living Tour

Downtown Columbus
The first Urban Living Tour will feature over a dozen stops in various apartment, condo and mixed-use residential buildings with additional lifestyle stops. The properties will be in various stages of development, some completed with fully furnished model units on display and some still under construction. Residential stops include: Grant Commons, The Julian, The Normandy at Neighborhood Launch, The Dennison (formerly Leafydale), Crawford Hoying, Flats on Vine, Fats II, The Keystone at Grandview Yard, Highpoint on Columbus Commons and JDS Companies. Other stops will be announced in the coming weeks. Lifestyle and restaurant businesses will be additional stops on the tour, offering introductory information, discounts and specials during the event. These stops include: Denmark on High, The Hills Market Downtown, the Art of Yoga Downtown studio and Global Gifts in The Short North. Other stops will be announced. Attendees who check in at multiple locations and get their map/passport stamped will be eligible to enter a drawing for a grand prize package worth over 1,000.00 at the end of the tour. Tickets are 15.00 in advance and 20.00 the day of the tour. Ten percent of all ticket sales will be donated to Faith Mission. Tickets are limited.
