The Big Pitch

FoodStart Ohio is searching for the next best food entrepreneurs of Columbus. The Big Pitch, a culinary contest at Franklin University, will pit food entrepreneurs in three categories (restaurants, mobile and food products) who will prepare bite-size samples for attendees on June 21. On June 28, a panel of judges will crown a winner, with the first place entrants winning 1,000.00 and a year of mentoring; second place wins 500.00 and six months of mentoring; and third place receives six months of mentoring. http://www.foodstartohio.org 


FOODFIGHT

Back again for a sixth year, FOODFIGHT is an easy and fun way to fight hunger in Columbus. On Wednesday, June 25, dine out at breakfast, lunch or dinner at participating restaurants and five percent of your total check will go to Mid-Ohio Foodbank's Operation Feed. Every dollar donated provides four meals for people in need. Road Race Updates

 

Columbus City Council passed legislation requiring that road race promoters apply for a permit at least 30 days prior to an event and to reach out to affected neighborhoods along the race course. This section will post updates about race applications that have been filed for downtown to allow for comment. Please send any comments to Jason Nicholson at JTNicholson@Columbus.gov.

Gay St. Closure
Gay St. will be closed to traffic between Wall St. and N. High St. for placement of a crane from 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19 to 5 a.m. Friday, June 20, weather permitting. Motorists can use Broad St. as an alternate.
 
Nationwide Blvd. Closure

Nationwide Blvd will be closed to traffic between Neil Ave. and John H. McConnell Blvd. as part of an ongoing streetscape project. The closure began Monday, June 16 and will run for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

  

Pride Festival Road Closures

The following roads will be closed from noon on Thursday, June 19 to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 for the Pride Festival: Goodale St. between N. High St. and Dennison Ave. and Park St. between Buttles Ave. and Swan St. Motorists should use caution due to increased pedestrian traffic in the area. 

  

The Columbus Pride Parade will take place on Saturday, June 21 at 11 a.m. Formation will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Front St. between Broad St. and Main St. There will be rolling closures along the following route: start at Broad St. and Front St.; east on Broad St. to High St.; north to Buttles Ave.; west to the finish at Dennison Ave. 

 

Neil Ave. Parking Restrictions

No parking will be allowed on Neil Ave. between Goodale St. and King Ave. on Thursday, June 19 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (northbound Neil Ave.) and Friday, June 20 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (southbound Neil Ave.)

 

High Street Resurfacing Project Continues

Work continues on the High Street Resurfacing Project. Work on the Americans with Disabilities Act curb ramp on the southwest corner of N. High St. at Broad St. will occur through June 20, weather permitting, with a curb lane closure at this corner and pedestrians detoured to the east side of N. High St. There will be various lane closures in the area. 

 

Work on the ADA curb ramp on the northwest corner of N. High St. at Broad St. will result in a curb lane closure at this corner and pedestrians detoured to the east side of N. High St. This work will take place June 23 through June 27, weather permitting. There will be various lane restrictions in the area.

 

The brick crosswalk work at the intersection of N. High St. and Spring St. will require that Spring St. be closed at N. High St. from 7 p.m. Friday, June 20 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 23, weather permitting.

This exhibition, curated by Donald Roberts, an Ohio University emeritus professor of art, will invite the viewer to not only understand the foundation of the permanent collection but also to reflect on the history of the medium of printmaking. The Riffe Gallery will present more than 50 contemporary prints created between the early 1960s and 2000 by artists from around the world, including three artists living in Athens, Ohio (Abner Jonas, Mary Manusos and Donald Roberts).
