DOWNTOWN RETAIL UPDATE
November 2012
Greetings,

More exciting development news is coming out of downtown. This month's Downtown Commission agenda includes the proposed construction of new apartments and street level retail on South High Street across from Columbus Commons' High Point project.

This is fantastic news for retailers interested in downtown. South High Street is undergoing a complete transformation bringing more residential units and consumers, and creating an amenity-rich, walkable, and vibrant downtown.

I'd love to walk you around downtown and share all of the activity. It's impressive.

I hope you enjoy a very happy Thanksgiving.

PROJECTS & NEW BUSINESSES

New Parking Meters on High Street
City crews have begun installing the new credit card parking meters on both sides of High Street between Goodale and Mound Streets. The first 30 meters on the west side of High Street are up and running, accepting credit cards and coins. While there will be rush hour parking bans in place, the added parking will be beneficial to retailers. One study suggests that one parking meter can yield between $125,000 - $190,000 in annual retail spending.

New Nationwide Office Building
Nearing completion at the corner of Nationwide Boulevard and Front Street, this new office building will bring approximately 1,000 new jobs to downtown.  Downtown will benefit from more diners, more shoppers, and more pedestrian traffic.
