Last week the U.S. Treasury Department announced that it would delay the enforcement of the Affordable Care Act employer mandate (pay or play penalties) for one year, until 2015. Under the Affordable Care Act large employers (generally those with 50 or more full-time employee) are subject to certain reporting requirements and to offering a healthcare plan that provides minimum essential coverage to substantially all full-time employee or be subject to one or more penalties.
This has no impact on the individual mandate, which still goes into effect on January 1, 2014.
