Hi everyone!

Yes, the media has reported that sales have slowed right down, BUT some markets were very active in Feb, such as New West and North Van, where 20% of active listings sold! And we're starting to see more new listings now that spring is around the corner. Check out the market reports below for specifics in your area.

Those of you with school-aged children must already have plans for Spring Break, but if you don't here's a guide to 101 things to do in Vancouver!  And Easter's just around the corner - here's a handy guide to Easter in Vancouver.

Real Estate Matters

The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver creates a great video each month to summarize the local market.  Check out February's update

Vancouver's house price gains over the next 10 years will outpace the national average, according to TD Bank.

Yes, as of April 1 the HST is no more, but if you're planning to buy a newly constructed home in the next 2 years, you need to know about the 2% BC Transition Tax

Mortgage renewal on the horizon?  According to the Financial Post, Canadians still need to learn that it pays to shop around

I'm not usually political, but the REBGV is lobbying to the Provincial Government to reduce the Property Transfer Tax. 'Like' this FB page to lend your support!

Market Statistics for February 2013
CURIOUS TO KNOW what's happening (sales, listing, days on market) in areas and neighbourhoods that matter to you?  Check out these reports:
   -  Vancouver, West Van, North Van & Richmond, click here

   -  Burnaby, Coquitlam, New West, PoCo, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, click here

   -  For Fraser Valley communities (as far east as Abbotsford/Mission) - click here

FYI, media headlines generally report price changes at an aggregate level (i.e, condos & single family homes combined, all the way from Whistler to Maple Ridge).  The MLS HPI (similar to CPI) is the best way to measure changes in home prices. The stats packages from the REBGV and FVREB contain HPI price changes, by city & property type. You can also find the reports on my website on the tab How's the Market

Closing Thoughts

As I said last month, I'm tired of grey skies and rain and am ready for some sunshine!
So here (again) is a link to the ten signs of spring in Vancouver.

I'm always happy to take the time to answer any questions you have about the real estate market.  Just ask, I'm happy to find those answers for you!

And Happy St Patrick's Day - enjoy Sunday's parade!

Cheers, Kathy
