May 19, 2016
Dear Notre Dame Families,
One of the terms I hear often this time of year is that everyone needs to "be on the same page." With everything that goes on in school this month (see below) it can be very difficult for all of us to keep things straight from time to time. With everything we try to remember as to what we hear from others, think of the time Jesus' followers at Pentecost heard the same message from the Holy Spirit albeit in different languages. I think all of us can learn from Pentecost so all of us can " be on the same page" the remainder of the school year. Please read all of the information after the newsletter in the News and Events section. There is so much information from 2016 Key Event information to Summer Programs for the kids and so much more. You don't want to miss anything!!!!
You will see the annual School Survey is hyperlinked here. The goal of this survey is to receive constructive feedback so we can improve various aspects of programming and services for students and parents. All constructive feedback is greatly appreciated. Once the surveys have been read, the findings will be provided by way of a narrative as to the main feedback from the surveys. Last year the results of the surveys were used to address various aspects of marketing, customer service, curriculum and programs as well as school culture and climate. It would be great if we can get at least one third of the parents to respond to the survey. I will personally call any person who fills out the end of the survey requesting a phone call. I would like to begin the process of tabulating the results after May 27.
There was a special ceremony Tuesday celebrating the formation of the CATHOLIC LINK. The goal of CATHOLIC LINK is to provide the highest quality pre k-16 education in the greater Green Bay area. Several Notre Dame teachers were recognized for their contributions to Catholic Education. An award was given to Mrs. Healy for her years of service as both a student and teacher in the Green Bay Catholic Schools. The CATHOLIC LINK awarded Ms. Summers a $5,000 scholarship to continue her education at St.Norbert College for the next two years as she teaches in a school that is part of CATHOLIC LINK. Our teachers will have the opportunity to receive more staff development training in conjunction with St. Norbert College.
A special note of thanks goes to everyone that has contributed so far to Phase Two of the Overdue Overhaul Project. We are getting close to our goal of raising $15,000 to make the Notre Dame Libraries and Classrooms a place where our students can fuel their passion for reading, research, and creative thinking ... BUT WE ARE NOT THERE YET! We are approximately $3,000 short of our goal for Phase 2. If you have not done so, please consider donating to this fantastic project to help us create first class learning spaces for our students! As a reminder, our main goals for Phase 2 of the Overdue Overhaul Project are:
- Purchase technology for the Notre Dame Elementary School Library
- $500 book allotment for all Middle School Classrooms
- Update and increase the book selection at both the Elementary and Middle School Libraries.
- Transition the Middle School Library Annex into a small group Creative Learning Space
SAC and I are collaborating to insure that these great spaces are (and will be) used by all of our students to make literacy an experience they will continue the rest of their lives. It is donations from many generous people who make projects like the Overdue Overhaul a reality.
Attention current fourth to seventh grade families: Does your student want to be a RAIDER ON THE RUN? Consider having your child participate in a fun and rewarding sport by joining the Notre Dame of De Pere Cross Country Team. This sport will be for fifth through eighth grade students for the 2016-2017 school year. Come join them May 25 after school for an ice cream social and to learn more.

There is still a lot of positive feedback from the Middle School Concert and Musical last Thursday. After speaking with some of the middle school students afterwards, many of them who did not think about performing in high school will now do so. Many of the students who had artwork up in the Dolski Center will continue taking Art in High School thanks to the projects and artwork they completed this past year.
Now is the time to check your child's books as well as any school library books that have mysteriously been discovered at home. The libraries at both schools close next week for inventory and maintenance. Any books that are lost or damaged to the extent they cannot be used may be charged full price for its replacement.
Have a great rest of the week! God Bless,
James A. (Jim) Clark, Principal "I CAN DO EVERYTHING THROUGH HIM WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH." Philippians 4:13
