Hello Notre Dame Families!

About 25 years ago I played a role in consolidating six schools into three.  The hardest part of this process was knowing that I would be involved in the process of informing good teachers they would not have jobs for the following year.  The date I would inform the teachers would be the week after Easter.  Because of my distress and the feeling of helplessness, I walked the streets of Manitowoc from noon to 3 pm. on Good Friday.  I knew that I would have to do something I didn't want to do, but had to anyway.  Reflection and prayer on that Good Friday were things I did so I could handle such an unpleasant thing.

Jesus had the same dilemma, albeit on a much larger scale. As both God and man, Jesus suffered greatly knowing what awaited him in the days leading to his Crucifixion.  Jesus loved all of us and died for our sins. Who could love us more than that?  As we commemorate the Triduum, let us all remember that Jesus made many tougher decisions than we ever would.

I sent a letter out to the middle school parents clarifying some aspects of the Behavior Code of third trimester.  I sent this letter in the spirit of caring and support for the students, parents and staff.  It is my hope and prayer that all of our students make the best choices so this trimester can be the best yet.  The next middle school grade check will be April 5.

There was a change in the handbook relative to invitations to birthday parties and other occasions.  We would prefer that those invitations be sent via e-mail or regular mail.  Doing this allows the school not to get directly involved in something that is normally done by parents.

All students should take home any belongings that do not need to be in school over the Easter Recess.  Taking things home before Easter is a good reminder for your children to bring home needed items they may not need the rest of the school year.

Both offices will be closed during the Easter Recess.  I check my phone messages and e-mails on a regular basis and I will follow up on them as needed.

May God bless you and your families during this Holy Week.  I would encourage to check your parish bulletins as to what times services are held at the site you attend.

Have a great rest of the week!

God Bless,

James A. (Jim) Clark, Principal

Notre Dame Savings Cards
Now is the time for businesses to be included in the ND Savings Card - a fundraiser for the graduating class that offers businesses a no cost option to promote their own business.  Businesses commit to a coupon or special offer for the holder of the discount card for 1 year.  Most businesses offer BOGO or % or $ off purchases.

The class of 2017 wants to make sure that our ND family businesses have the opportunity to participate - this discount card usually includes at least 2 dozen different offers.
