Hello Notre Dame Families!
There are two ways of celebrating St. Patrick's Day. One is the Irish Way that commemorates St. Patrick bringing Christianity to the people of Ireland. The American Way of celebrating St. Patrick's Day is to celebrate the diversity of the people in the United States today. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in our country as National Immigrant Day. America has been a melting pot of different cultures and traditions for many years. St. Patrick's Day is a great day to celebrate our faith and appreciate the diversity of all races, ages, religions and other characteristics that make our country so unique and special.
I have spoken with Fr. Getchel about Eighth Grade Graduation as we have received some requests for information. The day is Tuesday, May 31st. The location of graduation will be at St. Mary Church with the time to be 6 pm with a reception to follow. The Graduation Committee is working on the details for the reception. Eighth grade parents and students will receive more information in the upcoming weeks. Please refer to the calendar on the website for practice times and other important information.
I have noticed that there have been some activities and lessons in class that have allowed for student input. The third graders recently completed a classroom climate survey. Mrs. Kohl, Mrs. Healy and I will look at the results to see how the students have assessed the climate in their classrooms. Ms. Norppa will have her Math students fill out a survey assessing the Middle School Math classes. Mr. Brauer has organized a rubric in which he is seeking feedback on International Day. Student feedback can be some of the most valuable information a teacher can receive as to what and how things transpire in the classroom. After all, it is the students who are the center of everything we do.
Last Saturday Notre Dame School hosted the GRACE Solo and Ensemble Festival. The festival featured 90 entries from all of the GRACE schools. Of the 19 Notre Dame entries, 17 received a I (gold) rating and 2 received a II (silver) rating. The judges chose 8th grader Elizabeth Hoeppner as the outstanding vocalist of the day and 8th grader Evan Connelly was chosen as the outstanding piano soloist of the day. Elizabeth and Evan will represent Notre Dame by performing their solos at the NDA Cabaret Night Saturday evening March 19. Congratulations to all 19 students for their outstanding participation.
One of the hallmarks of our students is their academic success. An example of this centers around the fact that between 85-90 percent of our students at the middle school made either the "A" or "B" Honor Roll. This statistic is a reflection of the teamwork demonstrated by the students, teachers and parents. The second trimester Middle School Honor Roll was sent to the Green Bay Press Gazette for publication.
It is during this time of year when I become more involved with student conflicts and concerns. My philosophy is that I want to be present and involved in as many aspects of school life as possible. This philosophy can be a challenge with two buildings, but I do believe my role as the Educational Leader of our school must be about "people before paper."
One easy way to keep up with what is going on is to "Like" us on Facebook. if you haven't visited our Facebook page you don't know what you are missing
My trivia question for $2 is: How many Catholic Colleges are in the NCAA Tournament? The first person who e-mails me the correct answer receives a $2 prize.
Have a great St. Patrick's Day, whether you are Irish or not. We can all celebrate St. Patrick's Day as National Immigrant Day.
Have a great rest of the week!
God Bless,
James A. (Jim) Clark, Principal

Parent Education
Mr. Clark has set up a Education Post at the top of our webpage. This week he added the topic Bullying 101-Interesting Information on Bullying. This site is updated constantly. There are many valuable tools in which parents can educate themselves in different aspects of their children's education. Very helpful information. Check it out here.
Notre Dame Savings Cards
Now is the time for businesses to be included in the ND Savings Card - a fundraiser for the graduating class that offers businesses a no cost option to promote their own business. Businesses commit to a coupon or special offer for the holder of the discount card for 1 year. Most businesses offer BOGO or % or $ off purchases.
The class of 2017 wants to make sure that our ND family businesses have the opportunity to participate - this discount card usually includes at least 2 dozen different offers.
