April 1, 2015
Dear Parents,
During the Triduum, one of the things a person can do is look at the concepts of Perspective and Point of View. Even though Jesus is the Son of God, he suffered great dread and anxiety as to the suffering He would encounter as part of His crucifixion. How would we do if we had to suffer the way Jesus did? If we can empathize with the suffering of Jesus during the Triduum services this week, we can also appreciate His Resurrection. The ultimate sacrifice of any person is to give His/Her life for others. As it says in Hebrews 9:26 Jesus is the sacrifice who takes away sin once and for all. When we go to church this week, let us remember Jesus' ultimate sacrifices through his death. At the same time we can also rejoice in his triumph through His Resurrection.
Now that the magazine sale has ended, the cookie dough distribution will begin.
Parents who need to pick up their cookie dough should come to the elementary school gym on Wednesday, April 8 from 2:45-5:30 pm.
I would ask you to read the materials on the website about Jump Rope and Hoops For Heart. These activities are great opportunities for our students to help out a worthy cause such as the American Heart Association. At the same time the kids have a tremendous time either jumping rope or shooting basketballs. We are very fortunate to have fundraising activities at Notre Dame that motivate and inspire our students.
Mrs. Glover and I are beginning to process the amount of service hours each family is committed to this year. Many of you will be receiving a contact later this month as to the number of hours you have put in as well as the financial responsibility still owed. Please refer to the family service hours form on the website as to the details. You will receive more information in future newsletters clarifying any further details.
Enrollment numbers for the 2015-2016 change each week. If you have not enrolled your child(ren), please do so. If you would like to receive tuition assistance, forms are available in either office. The procedure for obtaining tuition assistance is to register with GRACE first and then with your home parish. I can then make intelligent decisions on the amount of assistance Notre Dame can provide. We will not deny anyone the opportunity and privilege for us to educate your child.
There has been information on the website, and below about a foreign exchange student program that would afford you the opportunity to host a child and allow him/her to attend Notre Dame for a part of the 2015-2016 school year. There is an orientation meeting Thursday, April 16 at 6 pm. in the middle school Science room. Hosting a child from another country is a great opportunity for both the home and school to learn many things about different cultures and groups. A goal of any school is to promote diversity in many forms.
We almost made our quota of 75 percent of our parents reading the newsletter. We reached the 70 percent mark. Mrs. Nance and I have set the goal at 75 percent. When the school reaches that goal, the students will receive a dress down day at a later date. We will follow that procedure every week until the end of the school year.
Congratulations to Caleb Dietsche for winning the Knights of Columbus State Free Throw Competition for his age 9 division. It was held this past Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids. He made an unbelievable 22 of 25 free throws and he is only in 4th grade. Awesome job Caleb.
Let us all remember that during the Triduum Jesus suffered, died, and rose from the dead for us. Please take the opportunity to attend services during this most sacred time of year. After all, we are truly AN EASTER PEOPLE.
God Bless,
James A.( Jim) Clark, Principal
