Dear Notre Dame Families,
The Key Event has some amazing news!! This years (almost) final numbers from the 2013 Key Event have been tallied, and we are excited to announce that the event has generated a record $114,000 in proceeds!!!!! This total will be split between OLOL and Notre Dame. The 2014 Key Event will take place on Friday, November 7th. Please mark your calendars and save the date.
The Key Event is our largest fundraiser of the year and we are in need of a co-chair to help organize and run the event next year. We need YOU!! For more information on last years proceeds and this year's event and contacts please click here.
On March 6th, there was a mother and young child that were 'clipped' by a vehicle on Superior Street during the morning drop off . Fortunately no one was was injured. Please take this near miss as a warning to take your time and keep your eyes on the road when you are dropping your children off. We don't want any of our little ones hurt due to distraction or careless driving. We received a letter from the De Pere Police Department regarding this incident. Please take a moment to read the letter. Please click here.
Are you looking for a good place to eat fish on Friday nights? St. Mary, St. Francis and Resurrection have teamed up to fry up some great perch and cod during the Lenten season. This continues a great Catholic and Wisconsin tradition. Click here for Lenten Friday Night Fish Fry opportunities.
THE CAFETERIA NEEDS YOUR HELP! The first and second trimesters went well with parents signing up to work the lunch/ middle school escort volunteer shifts. Now that we are into the third trimester, there are quite a few open slots that need to be filled. You can sign up using the following link:
Cafeteria Sign-up
With warm weather (hopefully) right around the corner, please remember to wear closed toe shoes. Also, please be in the cafeteria by 11:10 to get your hands washed and brief instructions before the children arrive at 11:15. Middle school volunteers please be at the middle school at 12:00. Notre Dame is asking for each family to volunteer for one slot per trimester, or more if you wish and that your time spent volunteering goes toward your family required hours.
***Cancellations 48 hours before the day of your shift can be directed to the secretaries of the appropriate schools.
Middle School Parents and Girls: Please consider joining us on April 3rd at Notre Dame Academy at 6:30pm to watch the film, Finding Kind.
Finding Kind is a documentary created by two recent college graduates about girls, and how girls can be kinder to each other. For more information and to sign up for the event click here. This program coincides with what Notre Dame of De Pere has been doing with our Acts of Kindness campaign.
Donate your gently used books...As we all know, our Notre Dame family rises to every need presented. The ND Girl Scouts sincerely ask for any family of Notre Dame who have gently used books they would like to donate, to drop them off in the Elementary School office. We will be collecting books through next week. Thank you so much in advance for your consideration and generosity.
ND Volunteer forms are due April 30, 2014. We are fortunate to have dedicated volunteers and we appreciate all of your time and dedication to ND. As stated in the school handbook, 12 hours need to dedicated to a Third Source Funding activity. The remainder can be fulfilled through a large variety of activities such as in the classroom, library, playground supervision, etc. For a copy of the Volunteer Form please click

Our Lady of Lourdes is having a middle school dance on Friday, April 4th. They have invited us but before we give our response we will need to find some Notre Dame parents to help chaperone the dance since they do not know our Notre Dame children. If this sounds like something you may be interested in please call Susan at the middle school to sign up.
Your child is invited to participate in the "Kids for Running" program offered by the Bellin Run and coordinated by parents and teachers at our school. Kids for Running is an after-school program that prepares children to run the 10K (6.2 mile) Bellin Run on June 14, 2014. It will be open to children from grades 3-8. Information was sent home today with the youngest child in grade 3-8. For more information click

Joe Vanden Avond graduated from Notre Dame Middle School in 2004. While at De Pere High School, he lettered in Varsity Baseball, Varsity Basketball and Varsity Choir, and competed in marketing competitions at the international level with fellow Notre Dame graduate Joe Van Remortel. In summers, he enjoyed being a part of De Pere's American Legion Baseball program, which has Notre Dame graduates playing every year.
After graduating from De Pere in the top ten percent of his class, Joe attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated in 2013. He is currently enrolled at Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, IL and plans to work for Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere after completing school.
Joe is very proud of his Notre Dame roots, and remains close friends with many of his grade school classmates. He believes from a young age, Notre Dame helped him see the importance in faith and the value of a strong community, and he is excited to return to the community he loves.
