Dear Notre Dame Families,

Curriculum and Standards Review Process:

As many of you may already know Bishop Ricken has already made an announcement regarding Common Core Standards. The diocese will be developing Catholic Diocesan Standards. Our teachers will be participating in developing the Catholic Standards at the Diocesan level.

Over the next 18 months we have been directed to transition away from "Common Core" textbooks and materials. We have received some direction from the diocese that all books with Common Core written on them do not necessarily have to be removed from our school, but will have to be reviewed and approved by the Diocesan Education Department. We fully intend to comply with this directive and in fact exceed it by reviewing our existing materials. We will be looking for teacher/parent involvement through this review process. The outcome from this process will give us a better idea as to what we want the diocese to review for approval.

Please feel free to contact Susan Nance at the middle school or Jenny Lamers at the elementary school if you are interested in joining the review process. We will try to include as many parents as possible. The first subject area we will be reviewing is middle school language arts.  We have already begun to form a committee for language arts at the middle school level. As you  can imagine this is a complicated process, however Notre Dame is up to the challenge. Our plan/goal at Notre Dame is to exceed the expectations of both the Common Core and the Diocese in both faith and academics!

2014-2015 Enrollment is underway. Here are the top 3 reasons you should enroll today!!

1. Save $$$ (the registration fee is $60 through the end of February.  March 1st the fee will increase to $100)

2. Reserve your student's spot in one of the best schools around today!! Don't believe us? Just ask the principal.

3. Teacher contracts offered this spring are based on the number of students enrolled for each grade/school. Secure your teacher's future by enrolling now.

And another reason to send your children to ND...There are quite a few ND graduates on the honor role for East De Pere!  Click here to see the list. We are very proud of them!!

We are proud of Avery Nooyen, one of our 4th grade students, who appeared in the Pageantry Fall 2013 magazine.  Click here to read the article.

Athletic Information Update is found on our website, please click here for more information.

Lost and found is growing at the middle school.  Parents please visit (or have your child check) the middle school lost and found and claim clothes.  We have shoes, shirts, pants, coats, fleeces etc.  You could actually clothe a family of four for a week. It's huge!!

Subway savings cards are available in each of the school offices. These cards are a $50 value and are being sold for $10. They are a great deal. The proceeds of this card will go to the 8th grade class of 2015. There are a limited amount and will expire the end of December.

Check out the website for more details.

Let your light Shine,

Jeff
