Dear Notre Dame Families,

Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Teachers continue to do great projects in their classrooms.  For example I stopped in Mrs. Ledvina's room and found the children wearing their pajamas. They brought in their favorite books from home, a blanket and pillow a flashlight and a stuffed animal.  They turned off all the lights and got real cozy around the room. To me it looked like indoor camping.  The children enjoyed their books for 30 minutes, what an awesome reading experience.

Battle of the books took place this week. Students in 4th-8th grades took place in Battle of the Books competing against one another answering questions about the books they read.  Some of the students read as many as 20 books to get ready for the competition. The winners were Lydia Sladek, Audrey Sladek and Elizabeth Hoeppner. 2nd place goes to Ellie Rose, Ben Smet, and Emma DeCleene. All student who participated gave their best effort and are winners in their own right. Thank you to the teachers and parents that served as judges, especially to Mrs. Pisani and Ms. Weiss who organized the event.

Interesting MAPS test fact: 20% of Notre Dame students tested at the 95% or higher level on MAPS math, reading, language arts and/or science. Some students tested at the 95% or higher category in all subjects. This is a tribute to our incredible student body, great teachers and great families.
