November 6, 2013
Dear Notre Dame Families:
The Key Event is a little over a week away---November 15. Make sure to visit the ND website to see the classroom plates! Continue to look for updates on oral and silent auction items on the website!!! There are many not to be missed items.
Next week Thursday, I will take part in the Book-it challenge to read to all the classrooms. Research shows that reading out loud helps students with comprehension and fluency. I will read out load to all students going from classroom to classroom. I will end the day reading out loud from the top of the elementary school roof! READ out loud with your children!!!
Notre Dame will be beginning an "all school" Rosary before Mass once a month! Students in grades 4 through 8 will go directly to church and pray a parent/teacher/student led Rosary. We hope to have students pray and reflect about the meaning and purpose of saying the Rosary. This will be a good use of time since we have thirty "free" minutes prior to Mass starting. Although Pre-K through 3rd grade will not physically be with us we will keep them with us in spirit.
There will be a Veteran's Day assembly on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 1:30 in the Middle School gym, this should last about an hour. Ms. Freeman and students are preparing a "salute" to honor veterans. All families are invited to attend this short assembly honoring our veterans. If you have a veteran as a family member or friend please invite them and fill out the form that is available on the website calendar so we can honor them by name.
Notre Dame is also lucky enough to have Lieutenant Colonel David A. Jones visit the Middle School on Friday, November 15, at 1:00. LTC Jones will be the keynote speaker for the Ethics in Business Awards earlier in the week in the Green Bay area.. LTC Jones (a West Point graduate) is highly decorated and has received numerous honors and medals. All families are invited to attend what promises to be a highly motivational talk on leadership. Hope to see you at the event!!!
Are you looking for a sweet Christmas gift? Seroogy's order forms are due Nov. 12. Seroogy's has great coffee and chocolates. I know I plan to purchase many boxes of chocolate and bags of Coffee!!!! The price is right and what could be better than chocolate and coffee?!!!!!!
Please keep Denise Charlier and her family in your (please do an act of kindness in her name) prayers. Denise is battling a degenerative eye disease and she is no longer able to continue in her role as playground supervisor. Amy Ertman and Christine Metzler will serve as playground supervisors.
Please do not drop your children off across the street from the elementary school on Huron. This issue has been raised by both families and the De Pere Police Department. Specifically do not drop children off on the east side of Huron to walk across the street to get to school. This is very dangerous and if it continues the police will monitor and issue tickets.
Go Pack Go!!! Friday, Nov. 8 will be a Packer Dress Down Day for $1.00. The money collected will go towards the Key Event.
