Dear Notre Dame Families:
Each week I hope to focus the newsletter on a few important items and touch on something new each week. As you may already know every year Notre Dame strives to improve! This year we will be no different.
Our teachers already do a great job teaching reading and writing to our students, however we have lacked some materials to bring all the elements of language arts together. Due to a generous donation we were able purchase new materials that will cover all elements of language arts (reading, reading comprehension, fluency, spelling, writing etc.) These materials were purchased from Houghton Mifflin for grades fourth through eighth.) All text books come with on-line versions (so no more 'I forgot my book at school' excuses). We have already received the sixth through eighth grade materials and fourth and fifth grade materials should be arriving soon. We are also making investments in grades K through three which I will focus on in future newsletters. With these new materials and the commitment of our great teachers there will be an enhanced focus on reading and writing.
The Notre Dame Open House will be next Thursday the 26th from 6:00 to 8:00. Please click the ND Website below for more information.
Thank you to all who supported and participated in the Notre Dame golf outing!!! It was a great event and raised a substantial amount of money for Notre Dame of De Pere. A big thank you goes out Julie and Len Stadtmueller for chairing this committee and for all the hard work that they put into making this another successful outing.
Congratulations to Kate Burgess (mom of Maddie and Emily) who was named the 2013 Athena award recipient. The ATHENA Leadership Award was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment. The award is presented by the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce to a person for professional, excellence, community service and actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills. Congratulations Kate!!! (and Tom because we know that behind every great women is a great man!)
Drop off and pick up at elementary school: Please do not park on Huron Street in front of school to drop off and pick up children, especially before and after school. This creates congestion on Huron Street and presents a safety issue for our children. I was informed of a close call this past week!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SO PLEASE HONOR THIS RULE! If you need to park to come into school use one of side streets or park a block down from the school.
Save the date for The Key Event November 15th. Please click the ND Website below for more information.
We are actively seeking help from our auxiliary group (grandparents, extended family, or parish members) that would like to help out at the school one day a week in the library. Please call one of the school offices if you are interested or need more information. Elementary School - 337-1103 or Middle School - 337-1115 or call me directly 217-4684.
