Washington Hearing
Bob Rees, representing the Association of Northwest Steelheaders, joined representatives from Northwest Guides and Anglers Association, NSIA and CCA at the January 23rd Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting in Vancouver, to provide the sportfishing perspective on how the "Kitzhaber plan" is effectively working to prioritize sportfishing on the mainstem Columbia. Like the Oregon presentation, we presented the facts and why we should stay the course on a plan that is working to keep commercial fishermen fishing when the sportfleet can't utilize all the impacts for a targeted, more sustainable and economically beneficial fishery. Our team's message was well received, but it also reiterates why we need to stay diligent on this issue--it's not over yet.
