We are so excited to see you in Missoula next week!  Here are some last minute details as you prepare for the conference.

 

ParkingWe will have parking attendants in lot A and at the entrance of the parking garage on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Watch for signs as you enter the lots from Campus Drive. When you enter the reserved lot you will be given a ticket for your dashboard and a ticket to take to the registration desk to pay for your parking. Parking is $3/day.  Weekly pass also available.  Passes can be purchased at the conference registration desk.  All of our host hotels offer complimentary parking.
 

Getting there: Most host hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport, please check directly with your hotel to make arrangements. Click for Driving Directions to the event.

 

Shuttles to Event: Shuttle buses will be provided each day between our host hotels and the University. Schedules will be posted at the hotels and are available Here on our website.

 

Location: All conference events, unless otherwise noted in the program, will be held at the University Center. You can view the University of Montana campus map Here.

 

Exhibitor Set Up: Set up will be Monday, 2-6pm on the 2nd level of the UC Commons.

 

Poster Set Up: Posters can be set up in the University Ballroom between 1:30-5pm on Tuesday.

 

Registration: The Registration Desk will be open at the University Center Foyer, 3rd level on Monday 7am-1:30pm and 5:30-8pm; Tuesday 7am-4pm, Wednesday 7am-noon, and Thursday 7am -5pm.

 

Payments: We will be accepting credit card, check, and cash payments onsite.

 

Food and Drink: Tuesday through Thursday, Coffee/Tea will be available starting at 7am, and there will be mid morning and afternoon snacks provided.  Lunch is complimentary on Tuesday. There is a food court on the 2nd level of the UC open from 11-2pm daily. Friday field trips include lunch.  

 

Mobile App (Sponsored by Phos-Chek):  To download the mobile app, search "EventBoard" on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.  Under "conferences" select "Large Wildland Fire Conference."

 

Weather: As of this writing, the 10 day forecast says it will likely rain in the beginning of the week, hopefully clearing for Thursday and Friday. Temperature highs predicted to be 63-72 for the week (that's 18-22 C for our international friends).

 

Conference OpensThe conference begins 8am Monday morning with Workshops. Please pre-register if you want to attend, as there is limited seating. Workshops will go until 5pm. There will be a no-host social with exhibitors and a student mixer Monday evening 6-8pm on the 2nd level of the University Center.  Tuesday plenary sessions starts at 8am and concurrent sessions start at 10am.  See the conference program for a detailed schedule of speakers for the week.

 

Other notable events and activities:

Monday through Wednesday-Art & Expression Exhibition in the UC Gallery, Mon 1-8, Tues 9-6, Wed 9-12

Tuesday--Poster Session & Reception, 5:30-7:30

Wednesday--Afternoon Field Trips, 1:30-5:30; Awards Banquet 5:30-9:30 (pre-order your meal! only a limited number of tickets will be available onsite) that will include awards, speakers, silent art auction, no-host social, and live music.

Thursday--Big Fires on the Big Screen Film Festival, 6:30-9pm at the Wilma Theater, Downtown Missoula.

Friday--All day field trips, limited seating, seats still available on a number of trips, sign up soon!
