 HIS Amazing Love

Hi SUMite Nation:

Dawn here, one of your fellow SUM sisters!  I offered to help with this month's newsletter and Lynn suggested we talk about God's amazing love for us.  Hmmm - that's a pretty BIG topic.  I mean, where does one start when it comes to defining God's very being - Love?

I thought about all of the big miracles in my life that definitely speak of God's infinite love for me, but then I thought about the little intimate things I see daily that He knows I need before I even need them.

I thought about how He uses us to show each other His love.  I thought about the cross which speaks of the ultimate love He has for us.  But what about the storms of life?  Do these call to mind God's love for us?  Not for me.  I tend to think he sneezed, blinked or fell asleep on me.  But a conversation with my aunt changed that for me and after giving this topic much thought, that is what I decided to share with you.

My Aunt Theresa is dying of inflammatory breast cancer. She has been through 2 years of relentless chemo and radiation and there has been no improvement. She is in extreme pain all the time. I share this so you can fully realize the depth of her comment.  One day, I was going on about "things" aka pity party, woe is me, nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I think I'll eat some worms. Tell me you know that tune. In my defense, I have some relatively legitimate reasons to complain - if there is such a thing. But what she told me, I will truly never forget. She said, "If you believe we serve a loving God, then no matter what is going on or where you are in life, it is the most loving place you can be. God will only put you in THE MOST loving place you can be."  This from a woman who is in one of the lowest places someone can be.

I share this because in the storms of our lives and our mismatched marriages, we can find God's amazing love and trust that THIS is the most loving place we can be.

Love,

Dawn

God is SO good!

Do you find it easier to pray for someone else's miracle and believe it will happen than your own?  I am so bold and confident when praying for someone else, but seem to lack that when I pray for myself.  I think this might be common.

One day my good friend confided in our bible study group that she and her husband had been trying for another baby for a year and had just found out they had less than a 4% chance of conceiving naturally.

She had come to us requesting prayers for wisdom about whether or not to have IVF.  I answered with, "I'd rather pray for you to conceive."  Quite frustrated, she reminded me that that wasn't an option.  I insisted.  Remember, I'm really bold with other people's miracles.

She explained that they still had to get a 20,000 medical loan and that they would keep trying for the next 3 months while they sorted things out.

In the third month (which was last month), her ovulation kit broke so they weren't even really trying.  They received their medical loan and met with the IVF doctor.  She was told to come back as soon as she started her period to begin hormone injections.

She went home and waited and waited.  No period :)  She's pregnant.

Guess what else, Friends.  Her husband is not a believer.  She is in a spiritually mismatched marriage.  She has said that even he is having a hard time denying this is nothing short of a miracle.

I think God must give us friends with enough confidence to pray for our miracles when we lack the confidence for ourselves.

I haven't stopped smiling since I found out.  God is SO good!
