PATHS2 Volunteer Transport Helps Nigerian Women Access Emergency Obstetric Care

transporting a patient Approximately 52,000 women in Nigeria die from complications during pregnancy or childbirth every year. Most of these deaths could be prevented through simple medical interventions, but many women can't reach health facilities during obstetric emergencies. To increase affordable, reliable, and timely transportation options for pregnant women in rural areas, PATHS2 has partnered with Nigeria's transport union to recruit and train taxi drivers as volunteers to take pregnant women to health facilities during obstetric emergencies.
