Malaria: A Disease We Can Defeat

We have long understood how it weakens hundreds of millions and kills hundreds of thousands each year and we have the methods for curing and preventing this illness. John Lamb A very serious yet under-recognized threat to economic, social and human progress in Africa could be abated if governments, agroenterprise, and consumers can unite to build the consensus and necessary funding to address the problem. That was one conclusion of "Mycotoxins: Triple Threat to African Development," a day-long event that drew leading experts in food security from USAID, USDA, FDA, the World Bank, academia and the private sector.



Is There a Link Between Autism and Early Childhood Vaccines?


vaccination Despite numerous scientific studies showing no connection between childhood vaccines and autism, nearly one third of parents refuse or delay having their children immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases. Now a new study conducted by Abt Associates and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adds to this body of evidence, concluding that there is no link between the risk of autism and the number of vaccines a child receives on a single day or cumulatively within the first two years of life.
