The Election Edition
Early Voting and Election Day

We need poll greeters to work shifts during early voting and on November 4th. Have you told Libby, Cole, or Wendy's campaign you will distribute push cards outside an early voting location in Arlington? Campaign literature is especially helpful to introduce first-time candidates. If you'd rather not stand (or sit), please consider delivering snacks and water to Democratic volunteers at several polling locations. Cole also needs volunteers to deliver yard signs to supporters who have requested them. (A coordinated list of drivers is being developed for Arlington.)

House Parties

Q & A with Libby Willis at Chiarello House Party

Months ago, Greater Arlington distributed a House Party TIPS booklet with ideas contributed by GAMDW members. House Parties enabled candidates to meet our friends and earn support throughout the county. Last week, GAMDW wrapped up the 2014 party season after assisting with seven parties. Thanks to these hostesses - Brenda Koegler, Linda Pempsell, Barbara Chiarello, Nancy Bean, and Sharon Dougherty
Judges and Clerks

On November 4th, many GAMDW members are judges or clerks at polling places around Arlington but if you're not an election worker, please volunteer on November 4th at Party headquarters or with a local campaign to answer phones and troubleshoot problems that arise at the polls. Your help is key to Democratic "Get Out the Vote" efforts. Contact TCDP for special training to be a poll watcher to prevent voter suppression. Training is in Ft. Worth on Sat. October 18th - call TCDP for details.

Volunteers Needed

Ready to Block Walk for Cole Ballweg, HD94

The most effective political persuasion is face-to-face so TCDP volunteers walk neighborhoods every day. In east Arlington, 360 CDA has Mega-Walks every weekend in October. Cole Ballweg's campaign walks each Sunday, 2-5, and weekly at 5:00. If you'd rather drive than walk, you'll help teams of walkers reach more voters in less time. Also, walking is thirsty work and donations of bottled water are appreciated. Bottled water at Aldi costs less. Phone banking is an option to walking.

On the Ballot: Four Arlington bond proposals

  1. Public Works and transportation ($160 million)
  2. Parks and recreation ($60 million)
  3. Fire Department ($9.78 million)
  4. Libraries ($6.09 million)

Details of bond proposal are available at the City of Arlington website.

The Star-Telegram recommends passage of all four proposals.

Sample Ballot for November 4th atTarrant Elections website

The generic ballot at Tarrant Elections lists all races and all candidates but your actual ballot has only races for which you are eligible. Find your eligible races on the Voter Registration Certificate (orange) or use Voter Lookup on the website.

Amendment to the Texas Constitution

Proposition 1   "The constitutional amendment providing for the use and dedication of certain money transferred to the state highway fund to assist in the completion of transportation construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects, not to include toll roads."
