The West Orange Arts Council (WOAC) in cooperation with the Library has created a cozy space in the computer lab where patrons can read poetry by other patrons, write their own poems to share, or simply take their poems home "to polish them," according to poet and WOAC member Peg Vassallo.  Vassallo conceived of "the poetry nook" in celebration of April's National Poetry Month but because of its popularity visitors have continued to read and write poetry beyond the end of the month. Patrons may visit the poetry center during regular library hours or check out the poetry books from WOPL's growing collection, "and maybe, just maybe write your own poem, whether or not you have ever written one before," adds Vassallo's fellow poet Frank Niccoletti, also a WOAC member. "There's a poet in each of us. Just put pen or pencil to paper or fingers to keyboard," he says.

Librarian Catherine LaBelle reads patrons' poems.
