West Orange Writers Group 

Thursday, May 8 at 7pm

Are you a writer interested in meeting other writers for gentle critiquing of one an  other's work?  Join an open, informal forum for anyone interested in any kind of writing - fiction, nonfiction, children's poetry, etc.  Bring a sample of your work.    

 

Poetry Workshop

Saturday, May 10 , 9:30-11:30am

Share your poems or work on a new one. Bring paper and pencil. Peg Vassallo leads this casual roundtable. Bring ten copies if you have a poem to share.   Presented in partnership with the West Orange Arts Council. 

 

Yoga for Beginners

Saturday, May 10 at 3pm

    Bring your own yoga mat for this class featuring simple yoga postures.  Participants will be asked to sign a waiver at the beginning of class.   

 

 

 

Creative Connection

Wednesday, May 14 at 7pm

Drop by and join the discussion on the creative process.  Receive constructive feedback on your work.  Presented in partnership with the West Orange Arts Council. 

 

Montclair:  A History in Pictures

Join retired teacher and local historian Douglas Alford for a look back at our neighboring community of Montclair through vintage postcards and photographs.

Crafty Tweens

Love crafts? So does our new Youth Services Librarian! Learn to create fun and inexpensive crafts using various household items, easily found and recycled materials. For the month of April we will be going green and creating baskets using recycled magazines or newspapers! No registration is required.

Teen Game Night & Anime Club 

Grades 6-12

Wednesday, May 21 at 7-8:30pm

For the Month of May, teens can drop in for our joint Anime and Teen Game Night.  Teens can battle with their Yugioh Magic and Pokemon Cards and challenge each other with our Nintendo Wii.  We will have drawing, anime, and manga view stations available.  Our Anime Art Contest winners will be announced!

Check it out Mate - Chess Club for kids

Thursdays at 4pm, grades 2-8

Chess club is back with chess master Eric Greenebaum. Kids will learn rules and strategies during this excellent game of critical thinking.

 

Downtime with Disney

Saturday, May 17 from 2-4pm, all ages

Come hang out at the library on the 3rd Saturday of the month for a special viewing of popular Disney films!

 

 

Music and Movement and for Children with Special Needs

Mondays, May 5, 12, & 19 from 4:30pm-5:30 pm, ages 4-10

Funded by a grant for children with special needs, children are once again invited to participate in this 2 week program series led by certified and experience music educator, therapist and special needs yoga instructor, Ms. Joanne Schlachter.
