Created Equal:  Freedom Riders

For the second film of our four part series, Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle, the Library will screen the award winning PBS documentary Freedom Riders.  Freedom Riders offers an inside look at a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights struggle, when a brave band of activists challenged segregation in the Deep South.  The film will be introduced by Dr. Clement Price of

Rutgers University.  Dr. Price will lead a discussion with the community after the screening.

Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle is made possible through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.  This event is locally sponsored by the West Orange African Heritage Organization.
