A Word From Your Trusted News Source

Jon Hoban

KJZZ is one of hundreds of public radio stations across the country, but KJZZ is your station. You trust KJZZ to bring you a unique blend of important Phoenix, national and international stories.  Across the day, every day, you hear distinctly unique voices and programs that share powerful stories. That's our commitment to you.

You start your day with local and national news on Morning Edition; you get the science behind combating an invasive beetle in Arizona; you get investigative reporting into police fundraising practices in Scottsdale, and you get the useful news you need.  These stories are blended with interviews, local artists and musicians, and StoryCorps participants who want to share their love and caring with each other and with you. You hear their struggles, you experience their success, and you feel their powerful stories on KJZZ.

It's KJZZ's commitment to the Valley that makes you turn to 91.5 FM. Remember, you can follow these stories on your smartphone if you are away from the radio with the KJZZ app.

We will continue our emphasis on local news with careful analysis about why each story matters.  That's our commitment to you for the rest of 2015 and beyond.  We have reporters across the city, state and region bringing you the news and reporting on the flavor of life in the Southwest.  You'll find colorful stories of people taking chances, making a difference and working to make their community better; people who are striving to make an impact.

Thanks to you for making KJZZ your home for powerful storytelling and accurate, thoughtful news coverage.

Sincerely,

Jon Hoban

People Who Listen To NPR Belong To One Big Family
By Deeann Griebel, KJZZ Leadership Society and Legacy Society Member
While standing in line recently, the topic of oil arose. I mentioned that NPR had done an article about the Shiites living in Sunni-dominated Saudi Arabia. Several people in line 'chimed in' that they had heard the story as well. Pretty soon we were all talking about "what would we do without NPR?!"...I felt like I was at a family reunion discussing news. That is when I realized how comfortable we all felt with each other.  We had never met before but we were chatting away about a shared experience, listening to NPR.

It occurred to me that this sense of family is one reason I am leaving part of my estate to NPR.  We ARE 'one big family' of listeners that share the same desire for unbiased information that informs us and expands our UNDERSTANDING of events in this complex world. Thank you NPR!

Why Do I Need A Will?
If you don't have a will - the state will decide who receives your legacy.

A will is a document that you create to provide guidance on distributing your personal property after your death. You must have a will even if you have a power of attorney, a trust, or accounts that you have designated to be "paid upon death" such as  insurance policies.

For more information on wills watch the most recent workshop "Estate Planning For The Novice" parts 1 and 2.
