President's Message

This past week National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) representative Lake Coulson was accompanied by the LAV team of Tim Piasky and Marta Golding Brown, along with Steven Schuyler, BIASC Government Affairs Director, to meet with congressional representatives in our region. Discussion topic included Federal housing finance reform, tax reform, labor shortage/immigration reform, and flood insurance reform, among others.  The BIA received positive responses on the majority of our legislative issues from those we met, and we are hopeful our initiatives proceed as planned.

The hot topic for Southern Californians today is water, and the BIA and its members are no different.  To that end, the Chapter is hosting the LA Water Summit on the morning of April 24, 2014 at The Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills. The Summit includes wholesale and retail agency panels discussions on water availability for future construction projects in our growth regions. The final presentation will be Tom DiPrima of KB Home discussing water conservation in action.   Please take a moment to save the date on your calendar, as water availability is truly the future of the industry in our region.
